maybe you should start acting like it.

who cares what desalle did, do you know what RV's schedule was for that day that would preclude him from staying latter? I know I don't, and im quite sure you don't have an idea either!

What were his other commitments that day, maybe 100 mile road bike ride, maybe meeting with sponsors, meeting with his team... you are making a lot of assumptions in your string of posts.

just saying
Correct!!!

Dude, Europes tracks are shit, no two ways about it. I will agree though, he needs to ride those shit tracks to know what shit feels like, so he can ride on those shit tracks fast as shit.

Then why the hell did you fly your ass out here to ride them??? Your ignorant, and don't have a clue, because if you did, you would actually be in the industry not forcing your opinions on a dirtbike forum. All of these riders know what there doing, and you sir, do not or you'd be racing against them not bench racing them with terrible facts you pull out of your ass. TC is a very good rider for sure, he could break his leg walking down the stairs tomorrow, anything can happen. So leave it till the races! And 2011 he waxed the MXON. please, enlighten me with your highly intelligent comment.
For an experience, to watch A1 mainly, I didn't like the tracks out there, they were too fast and there were too many jumps. If you look at the post I originally made on this topic you'll quite clearly see that I said that we should leave the judgement until the races start and stop drawing conclusions from these practice videos. Just because I'm not in the industry I don't have a clue? So that means that you don't have a clue about anything just because it's not your profession does it? At no point have I said that RV does not know what he is doing, all I said is that I would be more inclined to believe that someone who has been riding GP's for nearly a decade and been 2nd in the world 3 times would have a better idea on how to prepare for a GP season. I don't think that's a ridiculous statement, or derogatory to Villopoto, its common sense if you think about it. As good as RV is, there's no way he can know exactly what to expect when the GP's start, it's impossible for him to, he's never done it before.

Except for the fact that villopoto has never lost a 450 outdoor title that hasn't been cut short from injury. And he's never lost a 450 sx title that hasn't been cut short from injury. I would say he'll be ok! He's won 10 much much more than he's not won!

No, i never intended to talk shit at all. Just point out that Desalle waited till the track was clear and rough to do his motos and RV did his when the track was smoothest and busiest. In my original post i said that RV looked extremely quick and it was a pleasure to be on the track with him. It surprises me that he would want to practice with that many people that are so much slower than him, seems a little risky
Probably good practice for if he gets a bad start... That's about how fast he will come through the field in gp's...

I never doubted how much he's won or his ability to win. Just saying it's impossible for him to know exactly what to when he lines up at the first GP. He's never done them before, or raced against those guys for any more than 1 weekend a year

He'll know what to expect out of Cairoli, because he's the main guy. Maybe even Paulin and Desalle. But he won't know what to expect out of all of the riders, people like Van Horebeek, Nagl, Bobryshev, Searle and more of those guys who can put in an inspired ride on any given day and take a win. You can't think that RV doesn't have a clue about what's going to happen in GP's, but you're kidding yourself if you think he's going into it without some unknowns. I think he's even said so himself

He's won some races in Europe, but he's lost a couple too. I can't really ever remember him waxing anyone over here. He obviously did at Budds Creek '07 but that was on US soil and it was a long time ago

Waxing? Well... He won his class at each MXDN he's raced... and his team has won all of those he competed in as well...

06 he won his class against Cairoli even with an off track excursion

07 not applicable but we all know what happened there. And Budds could be about classed as sand that year. Watch the tape.

08 he won his class again, 2-1 after a 1st moto crash, came from way back, and won his 2nd moto outright....

11 on a 450... Poor start 1st moto but 3rd I think? And 2nd moto he took off, under pressure of him and Dungey needing to win.

I guess well just have to wait and see. I hope he can get over that scary new paddock he will have to use and be able to wrap his brain around a different practice schedule. Also I hope he can figure out how to ride on those insaaane GP tracks cuz I hear theyre a little bumpy

If he gets beat, he gets beat. But it won't be because he didn't know what to expect... it's all just dirt, tracks and twisting the throttle to him. What he's been very successful at for the majority of his life! He's not been RC or James, most of his titles have had adversity from several aspects of racing, this will be no different. And yes, he doesn't underestimate the unknowns, even in our series against our riders.

I'm a big RV fan but will not look at him any differently if he doesn't "crush" 'em over there. I've got to see some amazing rides/races from him and I'm thankful for that. Truly hope there is some great racing with him included in the GP's Smile

Being at Budd's Creek on that awesome weekend, I saw first hand how a much less experienced RV completely handled everyone there. The track was so unbelievably rough, it made many of the others look completely lost. When you watch a rider on a 250f holeshot and set lap times considerably faster than anyone else, you know that rider IS definitely someone unlike any other. Just my opinion.

As i said he's had his fair share of MXdN wins, but winning and waxing people are 2 different things IMO. Waxing people was what he did in 07, i don't really ever remember him doing anything like that on European soil, but he has won some races

Me too, i can't wait for the season ahead. Hopefully everyone stays fit and it's really one to remember. At the end of the day RV is the only top American guy to come over here and give it a go at winning a world title and i have great respect for him for that, and if he were to win it, it would elevate him above Carmichael in my opinion because he would've won everything there is to win in the sport, like JMB did back in the day

Well the fact that he did it even once (on a 250f even) is a pretty good testament to his skill. I really have a hard time believing that he will struggle over there, since he dominated so much over here(against guys that have also raced in the MXdN and beaten the Euros).

2011 2nd moto. GONE.

2008, won a moto outright on a small class bike, prior to that, had been done 3 times?

A large amount of RV's dominance has come with Dungey as his main competitor, and the Euros have been pretty successful in beating him, on an individual level anyway. But that has nothing to do with how good RV will do over here, we'll have to wait another 6 weeks to find that one out

Honestly the reason top American pros havnt gone yo Europe before was because the GP's were a 2nd rate series for a long time. People couldnt hack it in the states so they went to Europe to make some money. The GP's were pretty much 1 or 2 guys battling for wins and the rest of the field just mixing it up.

I mean how can you say the GP's are so much tougher when your 2014 250 champ only won because the top guy missed 5 races? I mean shit... talk about depth of talent

2011 he wasn't gone until Pourcel's tire popped off the rim.
2008 he won the moto but Rattray who had gone down in the 1st turn and was a lap down, followed virtually right behind him for the whole moto. Point is, he won, but he wasn't a million miles faster than every other guy on those days
