Powervalve assembly - moly grease or premix?

Edited Date/Time 1/7/2015 1:09pm
I'm putting my top end together on my 89 kx125 using all NOS parts. Everything is clean but dry. Clymer recommends a moly grease, yet the OEM manual says a premix will do. I also have some Lucas oil assembly lube.

What's the better assembly lubricant?

I wouldn't use moly....i'd use straight two stroke oil. Been using it forever, and never a problem.

The only thing I use moly lube for is high pressure/high shear applications in 4 strokes... Like cam lobes and valve stem tips.

Edit:stupid autocorrect

I wouldn't use it on a powervalve due to the extreme heat it'll encounter...that and there's no engine oil to dissolve it. That being said, I do use moly lube on my powervalve linkages...

Premix. The top end parts will get lubricated by this during the run hours anyway; may as well start them off with the same lube.

I used a mixture of 2 stroke oil and BELRAY anti-seize on the power valve and the top end rod bearing.

I'd put a super thin film of grease on the valve parts and then coat with oil.

I've always used motor oil. Definitely something oil though - not grease.

XNationalWrench, why would you use antiseize out of curiosity? Isn't that stuff sort of gritty?

I've always used the same oil that is going to be used in the pre-mix. Nothing else, never have had a problem with anything.
