Nice job on the re build!

You were on that bike a few years ago at Cahuilla, yes?

DocB - when I first read that you were rebuilding an 04, I immediately discounted what I was about to see. Holy cow I was wrong - very, very impressive rebuild. Your attention to detail is fantastic - have to say that's the best looking 04 / 05 I've ever seen. Great work - love your analogy of "wanting your doctor to pay attention to the details". Good point. I've met you a couple times (used to do work for you and Elrod when you had the Moto Show) - you HAVE lost a lot of weight. Hope you're back to 100%

Very cool Doc B! Your attention to detail is next to none!

I got a big air compressor & some air tools for Christmas just so I could soda blast my bike. After seeing yours, I'm really eager to get out in the garage this week & get to blasting! What was your set up like? Compressor size, HP, CFM (most important I heard for this kind of job) @ 90psi & the kind of gun you used?

I used my old Campbell Hausfeld compressor. It has 5hp and 20 gallon tank. I run the soda blaster at 90psi and the comp is rated for 6.3 CFM at 90 psi. The soda blaster tank has about a three foot hose with a ceramic nozzle tip at the end. The tank has its own regulator and an on/off valve with a volume feed valve as well. I got it on sale from Harbor Freight for $75.00. It obviously isn't as good as commercial setup, but I did almost cut myself before I got my gloves on! Be careful with the high pressure on skin!! HAHA! And wear protective glasses (disclaimer!)

Glad you enjoyed the project, maybe when I finally "retire" I can try to find an older bike to rebuild, but it may be a while!

Hey thanks. I saw where a few guys on here said to go to Harbor Freight to get a soda gun. Said it would be good enough to get the job done. Home Depot had a $30 one too.

I'm a bit worried that my 8gal 6.5cfm won't be quit enough. Hopefully so, if not, my farther in law has a shop at his house where he used to build racing go carts, worked on lawnmower & other small engines. He has a sand. Blaster there with a huge shop compressor that has more than enough to get the job done. I just wanted to have an excuse to use my new Christmas present Dizzy I'll report back with some before & after photos. Thanks for the tips too DocB.

HA! I haven't thought about The Moto Show for a while! That was fun. We gave the name to another group to use, but it didn't get too far.

I always wondered if you were a rider. It appears you're not just a "people" mechanic as well! Which brings me to another question. Do you ever exchange reduced fractures or sutchers for bike service or parts? It would seem to me that you have some serious connections.....and often at times when those connections are most willing to barter.

Maybe if I had an office, that might be an option, but since I practice in an Emergency Room only, it is sort of hard to barter!
I could see asking an OEM guy if I could get a deal on some parts while he is having a heart attack. Not really the time!! (Sarcasm included!). Nearly all the Industry has my cell phone number and I get plenty off phone calls during the mid week for advice..........that is always free.
