The late Charlton Heston was as conservative as they come and a former NRA president. Anyone remember his quote about not giving up his gun? "Not till they pry it from my cold dead hands!"...or something like that!

That's friggin awesome!!!! At least he practiced what he preached.

I own plenty of guns but, my collection is limited to weapons for hunting only. I own a few pistols for home defense as well. I have to admit though, I've never understood the need to own Assualt type weapons. It seems a little freaky to me, especially since they serve no purpose, unless your a memeber of the Military or a police unit.

I am concerned though about Obama as our possible next Pres though. He can back pedal all he wants about his opinion on guns. His voting record speaks for it self. He is very anti-gun. Just hope he doesn't shut down the hunters and recreational shooters with some type of crazy legislation.

FYI, the pictures are real, but they're not from Charelton Heston's house.

The reason for an assault type weapon is because I wanted it and I like to shoot it.

A friend of mine owns some of those old relics. He took my twelve year old son out to the shooting range and let him run through several 250 round ammo belts. The kid was having a blast(literally) until the gun broke. Yikes! Probably a 20-30 thousand dollar weapon with unobtanium parts. He said he had some spare parts though. Very cool collection there, lots of history. I like Terry Goods basement museum better though.

That's the spirit: "He doesn't like the same things as me, what an idiot!" Thanks for posting. I mean that.

In South Africa, with our crime rate, I would say he was not fully armed.

I am willing to bet a thousand dollars that Charlton Heston was very insecure about his peniz size.

i wouldn't know about that...but, guns are different here than there.

That's a fantastic vault and collection. I have a few rifles and a pistol--most of which was inherited.

I would love to tour those weapons with someone who knows about them and shoot them, but I'm not a collector.

Sweet collection.

I bought an AK a few years ago. Best gun I've ever shot. Although my experience is pretty limited.

I got it as sort of my own form of checks and balances on the government.

I'm not really scared of the perpetual cocaine crazed negro breaking into my house. If it were up to me I wouldn't bother locking my doors.

I dare some mofo to walk into my house uninvited though...

The guns are probably different, but the emotions that will bring you to get such a collection are universal. The bad part of it is that he probably was hung enough too, many guys go around feeling insecure for no reason and look at the results, rediculous!

nice collection. i would love to know the history of all those guns, when they were built, where they have been, ect. A friend of mine has a collection like that and its cool to see how all those old guns work. I like to see big locked up collections like that, means there is that many less on the streets.
