1980 yz50. 1 year only model.

I thought it was a good deal until I tried to find some of the parts that are missing on it. The missing parts would cost more than the things worth. Missing plastic, carb, and shifter. Otherwise looks all there. Kicks over with compression.

Anyone else have one?

I would love to have one. Parts unlimited and western power have carbs that will work for under 100 and the shifter shouldn't be to hard to source. It's a keeper. Check with Speed and sport on the side covers.

I believe the 81 YZ60 plastics will all interchange. Maybe fenders and side panels from the 82 and 83 YZ60. Keep an eye on Ebay. Not sure if DC Plastics makes anything for them or not. I have a really nice 80 YZ50 that needs a little work and a pretty mint 81 YZ60. The little 50 will haul ass! Have had a few of them.

I built My daughter an '81 60 from salvage that was very competitive on the flattrack against the boys on newer KX and KTM 65's.wish I had some pics. I had it painted Blue like the newer yams. Taught a few other kids to shift on that bike too. Nice score man!

From what I've read, it uses a round slide Mikuni 22mm carb. Should be able to find one pretty easy.... just a matter of getting the correct jets for it.

We have a yearly vintage race here in Wichita and the kids have a modern class. A kid from Topeka showed up on a YZ 60 and waxed(DESTROYED) all of the kids on current bikes. My kid was shocked beyond belief. Cool stuff. He couldn't believe a bike from my generation had just smoked him.

81 YZ60. You can see the similarities.
