what are some good and bad things about this bike? ive heard some people say that its one of the best engines honda ever made for the 250. i bought a 00 last night, no second gear. didnt hear it run but im going to just do a top and bottom end while i have it apart.

the pipe is cracked in half, which aftermarket pipe makes the bike run the best? id probably be looking for bottom to mid range power. also do the 02 and up plastics bolt up at all? shrouds and rear number plates is what id want to do if possible

what other things to do or look for while its all apart? i had a 98 cr125 that i loved so im hoping this is even better! anyone with this model bike post a picture up!

I am currently refurbishing my old 01 CR250R, It is the best CR250R motor of all time. A couple things that I have done that I would recommend is installing a power valve cover spacer, V-Force reeds, Pro Circuit Pipe and Silencer. Throw away the stock carb and replace with 2001 KX250 carb.

You can install the 2007 plastics fairly easy but it is definitely not a direct bolt up, You need to first purchase a New Gas Tank to get Radiator shrouds to bolt up. IF you want to mount the side panels and rear fender you must buy the airbox. Then you will have to make a couple custom brackets to mount plastics. 4 total. 1 on each rad shroud and 1 on each side panel.

My bike was formerly featured in Transworld in 2001 and they gave it a 9.5 out of 10.

Google Tom Morgan 2001 CR250 to find the article.

good motor, really reliable, not the best cornering. That would be my 3 comments on my 2001 cr250 (pictured left)

wah? It was a great cornering bike (and I have owned many RMs too).. Just get the forks working good. One of the best corning bikes I have ridden. The only wart on the bike is the forks. The Mikuni can be made to work great if you know the right jetting.

The OP bought a 2000. It came with a Keihin Air Striker. They put the Mikuni on in 2001. Lots of guys with 2001's were putting the 2000 carb on.

The 2000 was a great running bike. The stock pipe and the FMF pipe work great for all around power.
