I Know if wouldn't reap any performance gains I clearly stated I think it looks bad ass other people brought in the performance aspect.

By the way, that's the definition of a fan boy, as you call it. It's those kids who care more about the way their bike looks than how it performs. Hey spend money on graphics and run bald tires. They have the latest gear and a 3 year old clutch. You're willing to give up performance in order for your bike to look cool while sitting on the stand. If that's not a fan boy, I don't know what is.

But whatever dude, have at it.
Its people like you that cause people to leave the sport. No I don't spend tons of money on gear hell i have skittles bag gear. Im just try to make my bike look a little cooler and everyone trys to in some aspect. Also if I was a fan boy your driving me away from the sport like you said the fan boy funds the sport

Geez I didn't even realize I had that many posts Blush No celebration needed lol
Already done by the twin cilinder Aprilia MXV 450. Not a good idea since all the mud was stuck in the underneath-rear-fender-muffler...

I thought there was a whole lot of ingenuity and great ideas in this thread. I vote we send it to the HOF.

Man I can't believe I'm doing this.. but

What if you took your two Identical silencers, shorten them (half) so the two equal the length of one stock silencer, better yet experiment with stock silencers, sure you could score a few on ebay. Then you would need a proper collector "Y", do not just cut a hole and weld your 2nd silencer tubing to the side of the original like the picture posted..

Columbian River sells everything you would need for the tubing part. They also sell the merge collector needed to do the job RIGHT:

This is a exhaust i built on one of my bikes, imagine the single tubing is the "pipe" side of your bike, then from the collector to your silencers:

If you do it right and learn all the proper skills along the way you might just find a new interest in designing and fabrication. You will need the help of a experienced fabricator.

ok thank you I will look into it I don't see a possibility of increasing horsepower but maybe I could keep it from loosening any. Ill check on ebay and try to pick up a couple of stock ones and see what I can do. Thanks Danny

Cool project....

I would recommend using muffler tape in a dark carbon fiber weave to hold them together. Available at your local O Riley's / auto parts

But don't forget to repack your muffler bearings w/ racing greese

The "not losing horsepower" is going to be the hard part.

A 2 stroke is very dependent on the shape of the pipe. There is a good reason why a tuned pipe has this very recognizable shape: It needs to expand to allow the spent gas to get out of the cylinder in a hurry (and help pull the fresh gas in), then it needs to slow it down to prevent the new gas from getting out too before the port closes.
So all the dimensions are very critical: The shape of the cone, the length of the pipe... You don't have a valve to close the door like on a 4-stroke.
On top of that, you only have one export port (as opposed to some 4 strokes engines that have 2 exhaust valves per cylinder) So if you split the pipe as it comes out of the cylinder you are going to get a lot of flow disturbance.
Seems to me the only way to make it work is to split the end of the pipe after it has narrowed down. So pretty much the part where the muffler connects...

I feel for you mate. I was thinking about starting a thread asking if anyone could help me in fitting twin shocks and drum brakes to my CRF450. Don't think I will bother now. I only want to go do some vintage racing.

That seems ugly I feel connecting them at the beginning of the pipe is a better option
If you were referring to my "design" I´m not looking for badass looks but a very very very quiet exhaust. If you just want badass looks, go the TriRacer27 route or try to do it properly as in the TLD CR picture.

Ok I understand you might be able to drill out the holes bigger in the silencer tube to use the packing as a damper more.
