What games/event/activities do you remember that large crowds have enjoyed at Amateur national (or even other types of) events? I am looking for some new ideas for the Mini O's coming up.
The Kawasaki dinner/DJ was big at LL's, true, but it was free food after all.
Of course, we will have (tentatively) Karaoke (which worked at LL's) in the Fox tent with the finals on Friday - which is huge. I'm sure that Thor will have their movie night with some new extreme video debut.
Guitar Hero also worked at LL's but really doesn't offer a lot of group participation.
Please throw out some ideas that you think would entertain about 1-2000 each night for 2-4 hours! Anything is on the table....you know what I mean.
Thanks for playing.

why not have like a week long treasure hunt with clues and stuff added everyday....just a thought but it would provide tons of excitiment for the week and both parents and kids could play along, plus I'm sure a bunch of different companys would pitch in to provide the treasures
Nothing like some violence to bring the crowds.
you could follow that up with the womens Bel Ray Oil wrestling contest
dump a few liters of 10w40 on the ladies and let them get at it!!!
on a serious note why not have a tire toss competition on the starting line
all you do is try and throw/roll a tire and closest to the cetain spot and winner advances
winner gets a free set of rubber
The Shop
Free shipping: VITALMX
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Bingo
It's Florida soo.... Gator wrestling
Poker tournament or Casino night. Win credits for sponsor swag.
BMX and or Skateboard Demo
Rock Paper Scissors Tourny
I think a Texas hold em tournament would be fun also.
Or maybe something related to golf?
A big hit in Ga is to bring in some blow up bounce houses etc, but limit it to the little kids to keep it under control. Find a sponsor and offer it for a few hours for free early one evening. maybe 5-7pm
A BMX and/or skateboard half tube contest.
Big air, under the lights, yeah.........
I remember back in 92 or 93 at loretta they had a big wheel race. I ended up on a team with mercedes gonsalez(spelling) and damon bradshaw. It will always stick out one of coolest moments ever... I have been fortunate to have many.
I was like 10 at the time..
Boxing got out of hand 3 years ago. Had to shut down the entire night....kids (and girls) boxing in the pits after I shut down the midway. Same goes with the moon walk....big kids get in and hurt the little ones....even if it is supervised, they mess it up for the little tykes.
Bingo sounds cool as well with swag as prizes. Excellent.
" Gym Briggs wrote" What kind of big wheels and how many and how did you go about setting up the teams? Like a normal kids bigwheel? BTW - nice first post.
Obstacle course for the kids
MX vs. ATV Untamed tournament (hold qualifying during the days earlier in the week)
Beer pong tournament
Horseshoes
Mini Golf (with a moto touch of course)
Charity Auction of some sort
Glow in the dark Frisbee golf (the same course could be used more than one night)
Pit Row
Another event I had the chance to attend a few years had some real night time activities like a night time poker run and most bikes didn't have lights. It was scary riding through the woods with a flashlight taped on your helmet.
Fashion Show has a possibility.....but it only lasts 40 minutes. + On Friday is the Miss Winter Olympics.
Rib Cook off is overshadowed by the Thanksgiving Feast....+ plus how do you manage that?
Live Band is tough because of the different musical wants. There is NO band that can play there that will make everyone happy. I had a guitar player 4 years ago that did all kinds of music...kind of like a nightclub theme....tough crowd...kids will NOT accept a band unless it is a current concert band. Not aloud on the property. Sound constraints.
2) I like the idea of Karaoke like they have at Loretta Lynn's......if I hadn't been so worked from all the walking, heat, and humidity I would have been up there belting a few tunes out.
3) Old school MX home movies or The Moto Files shown on a big screen would be cool.
4) One of my best Trans Am memories is getting into Mid Ohio on a Friday night when a big corn fest was going off and Led Zeppelin music blaring over the speakers.
Oh that same year Emig pulled me into fox radio which was in the bottom of the tower. He remembered me cause my dad raced pro. I would sit in the pits back then and clean his helmet and shoot the shit. Back when he was on 125's. He actually gave me his jersey(at unadilla a couple years previous, he remembered me though). They interviewed me. Then later that night I made my way back up thee with my buddy. Emig was feeling "good" and telling us the technique of turning.
Like I said before I have gotten the chance to have many great experiences cause of this sport.
I Love Motocross!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL
Personally I"m into grabbing a few buddies, a case of coors light and telling good ol days moto stories around a camp fire. Bench racing
"Looking for an AMA card with 3 as the last digit"
"Looking for a pair of DC shoes" "The latest issue of whatever", a lot of possibilities, just have to come up with a list.
They always threw in requests for regular stuff like nail clippers or tweezers, band aids, you name it..
Gave away a bunch of smaller swag, but it was fun for everyone.
Hula hoop contests
Toilet paper races
Limbo contest
When the Jeff Foxworthy "You Might be a Redneck" stuff was popular, they also had a "You might be a motocrosser if" contest and the best entry won a prize.
Raised about $800 in a one night raffle to benefit an injured rider. An auction would have made more money but since it wasn't advertised, they wanted everyone to have a chance to buy a ticket for $1. Did auction off a couple of bigger items, but the people who wouldn't or couldn't bet still hung around to see if they would win something
We are going to do a Video MX competition as well. Might try Slackercross. www.slackercross.com
