calling Digger29

Hey man. SO, it's a pretty well known fact that you're the go to guy for KTM/Husky stuff so I thought I'd ask for some tips, if you don't mind.

I'm about to pick up a 14 TC250.

Any tips on jetting, suspension, or anything else?
I'm in Phoenix (1k ft above sea level)..if that helps.

I found this thread as well but figured I'd just go straight to the source.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Digger helped me out tremendous! I have a 14 tc250 and I love it. Suspension HAS to get done! WP offers a very fine line to get it set up right!! I had to add a little oil to my front forks as I was bottoming real easily and also had to change the springs! Get a bills pipe and silencer combo! Get yourself a V-force 4 setup! You're going to need a 2013 KTM 125/150sx carb. You'll take the 6.5 slide out of the stock 36mm carb, and put it on the new 38mm carb. Get yourself a Suzuki NECJ needle (optional) 2008 Suzuki rm250! Put the needle in the 3rd position from the top! 42 pilot, 175 main! HOLD IT WIDEEEEEE! you'll love that thing!

thanks man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really appreciate it!!

Planning to drop it off to my suspension guy before I even ride it.
As far as pipe and stuff, that will have to wait a bit. Planning to jet it, do the suspension, and ride that sucker for now.
But we all know a stock bike doesn't get left stock for long.

V-force wakes it up a ton!! That would be my first investment!!

I really like my TC. I just changed the needle to the NECJ one, and changed the clip position. I would like to try the 42 pilot instead of the 45.

Different route bro, got a free YZ250 to mob around on. Gonna keep the 125 for the 125 open class and ride the 250 in vet open. It's hard on a 125 against these cats on 450's. I can out turn them but as you know the straights they kill me. Now it's gonna be a level playing field lol.

What he said.. :-) I rode his bike and it Fn rips!!

If money were an object and I was doing them in order of importance I would go this way.

1. Suspension. KTM's are the best handling bikes on the track once you get the suspension sorted out.
1A. Jetting. It's super important getting it jetted correctly to get the most out of your bike.
2. V-force. Way better than the V-force 2 copy that KTM is using now.
3 Silencer of your choice. The stock silencer makes almost a 1hp less on the dyno than Bill's that I'm running.
4. Pipe. I love the Bill's and it definitely gives the bike the most top end but they're all good and it's a personal preference thing.
5. 38mm carb from the 125/150SX. Your bike will absolutely rip and seems to rev to moon with the Bill's pipe combo and the 38mm carb.

I have a 2014 TC250. 175#, mid-pack 450 novice ....I like the suspension better than the stock yz450 I had. It does require some break in to get it there though. I am in Apple Valley CA 2200' and race at Glen Helen 1800'. The stock carb with a 160, 40 pilot, stock needle on 3rd clip and it has more power throughout than i can use. Very clean running bike. If I were to change the suspension I would use Earl Shuler Racing in Hesperia, CA, he definitely has the hot set up for all WP suspension.

I'm disappointed in you digger! Wink you left out to make sure the x and z dimensions are set properly (mine were close, but not exact) and to put the red power valve spring in and set the power valve adjuster to where you like it. Start flush with the cases and move it in until the power is how you like it.

Oh yeah, and jet it.

For the silencer, I'd stick with the longer one. I have a short one, but with the carb set up, I'd rather the long one to let it really rev out better. The short is great for a tight technical track, but anything with speed and the long silencer shines.

I liked the shorter silencer on mine and also the softest powervalve spring... was it green or Yellow? Whatever it was that made it come alive soonest, then I could lug it more without the hit. I'm not a revver!

Try a Lectron carb. After having one for a year I'll never go back to a multi-circuit carb ever again. Better mileage, super smooth power (no overlapping circuits) and top end pulls forever.

Far better than a traditional carb IMO.

I don't remember the dimensions themselves as far as what they should be. They are in the owners manual for the bike though. X I believe is the top of the piston to the top of the cylinder without a gasket. Then you figure out what gaskets make it the correct dimension. The Z is the top of the cylinder to the power valve flap when the power valve is closed.

Double check your manual. I'm working off of memory and I haven't played with mine in a while.

Yeah I think the best part about this motor is it's basically a four stroke without engine braking. Using the hardest hitting powervalve spring to me takes away the rideability.

The yellow spring. I use the yellow spring with the screw all the way backed out flush plus 1/2 turn. it seems to work pretty well.
