Drum brakes all around. . . That's crazy. Cool looking bike though. That silencer is interesting also. What is this piece doing?

Brake stay. Keeps the drum from spinning when brake is applied.

Brake stay. Keeps the drum brake backing plate aligned with the swingarm, preventing rotation. Normally that would be done with a tab and fingers, but I suspect this was some sort of retrofit of pieces parts cobbled together so they had to engineer a solution.

You kids these days....

The rear brake is a fully floating drum , the torque arm mounts to the frame so that the suspension doesnt go stiff as the rear brake is applied...they used to just mount to the swingarm , and before that with a tab. Because the brake was mechanical, (either a rod or cable ) it was designed to stop the brake getting applied to hard as the wheel went up.... with hydraulics it dont matter.

EDIT not fully floating ... could have swore it went to the frame the first time i looked at the pic.

I think you mean "Time Rider." Killer movie!

"Time Bandits" was a movie with time-traveling little people who steal a map to the universe and enlist the help of a kid.

The bike in "TimeRider" was a 500 yamaha in an aftermarket frame. (Maybe a C&J also)

One of the coolest bikes I've ever seen in a movie. So many trick parts!

Early freestyle modification. When a rider would come completely off the bike, like in a "rock solid", often the front end of the bike would be too high. Without a means to tap the rear brake, death upon landing/impact was common. The extended brake cable gives the ability to "tap" the rear brake with the right hand, thereby bringing the front end down for a safe landing. Purely a safety thing.

HAha I didn't look THAT closely at it....you gotta at least give some credit for knowing what a Bengt Aberg special is, and yes I know that bike used a TT500 engine.
