I acquired a 84' kx 250 last year that was in need of some work and a few missing parts. I'm slowly working on building the thing back up. I didn't feel a need to do a full resto since the frame has little wear near the footpegs and the factory frame stickers were still in place. I tell you what, finding an exhaust for one of these bikes was no easy task! I got lucky and found one in TX while on vacation a few months back. The bike has all the original plastics that are in fairly good shape (other than the extra holes drilled in the left side cover...airbox mod?). Id like to find a different carb for it. The one that was on it when I got the bike had some strange repair done on the intake side. Looks as though it somehow got cracked. Cylinder was sleeved at some point so a rebore with a .030 piston will do the trick. Only things left to get will be a original front brake master cylinder, rear brake spring, silencer, new rubber, fork boots, and some decals. Oh and the original front fender brace that seems to be non-existent on ebay. If anyone here is hoarding some parts for this bike, let me know.

What a fun project! It looks great.

You should be able to find a round slide Mikuni for it fairly easy. I think you need a 36mm. You might like it more with a 38 PJ Keihin carb. Good luck!

Vino3, its a 38mm stock Mikuni on it now. I see them all over evilbay but prices are kinda high. I'll just keep my eyes open and wish for luck that one pops up locally. Maybe if a flatslide Keihin comes about I'll scoop it up for shits & giggles.

Does anyone here that knows these bikes know if there is a front master cylinder rebuild kit available for this year? Seems I can't find one anywhere.

Well, she's a runner. Just not a stopper! No front master cylinder yet. And I need a silencer....neighbors love it! They also may love the smell of BeNol I'm burning in it.

Badfish, if you have the original master cylinder the parts are still available from Kawasaki to rebuild it. You can't get all the parts but the ones that count; the piston is # 43020-1021 ($35) and the seal cover is #49016-1035 ($10), you should be able to use the old stopper you still have or find a washer/clip to fit. Nobody else goes back passed 1986 so this may be your only shot unless you want to switch out master cylinders, I hope it helps.

Badfish, there is a OEM silencer in great shape on e-bay right now for your bike $50. Your bike uses silencer # 49069-1072 and was used on the 1984-1986 model, so look up "1986 kx 250 silencer" it will come up, better get it while it's still around there are many watchers.

Sorry guys. Bike was sold a few months after this was posted. Lucky new owner is located in Australia. There is a video on YouTube of the bike running before it was listed. Just search 1984 kx 250 and it should be the first result

Just curious. How much did it fetch?

Wasn't in West Australia was it? Saw one for sale 2 weeks ago for $1200, looked pretty original, was very tempted. There's also an 84 RM 125 and 84 KX 125 for sale for the same dollars. The RM looks original but it's an 8hr drive to look at it

I don't remember what part of Australia but I remember the guys name.

It brought in $2100. Not bad but I still regret selling it.

I'm looking for some help concerning my 1984 KDX250 I'm needing a GENERATOR ROTOR and can not find one and probably won't. Do any of your guys have that part to sell?
