will Jeremy martin ,assuming he is national champion pick one of these "only for championship winner" numbers?
or will he pass them up for a stupid regular number like dean Wilson.

I'd take 8 unless he's tied to a particular amateur number?

I'd go for a single digit if I were him. Unless he's uber confident of getting another championship in the future.

Say he didn't go for the 6 or 8 next season, but then failed to win a championship in 2015, is that rider still eligible for a single digit number the following season or is it a case of "you had your opportunity and didn't take it at the time", or can he choose to go single digit any time in the future as he's already been a champion?

I think you have to take it or default. You have to elect a number for the year and I'm pretty sure they'd defer to the current champ (as in next) after that.

its really stupid to pass up a national single digit number in my opinion.dean Wilson is less noticeable/marketable than say blake Baggett as a casual spectator, plus its an honor status to carry a more visible #.

No one will pick 6 since it makes 666 when on the bike

It used to look great on Steve Lamson factory Honda. Would look great on a Yamaha also.

For how long do you keep your number after you retired? Just one season? Potentially 2, 7, and 9 will be available.

Mike LaRocco did not think it was stupid, he ran an extra # 6 on his rear fender for that reason.

While we are on the subject, #14 should be available soon too, I'm thinking?

Whoever chooses that # in the future will have huge shoes to fill.

6 looked good on Bailey's bike in '86, looked good on Broc Glover's bike too in '83 (I think). Drawing a blank on other famous riders wearing the 6.

Dean wanted #3, but Mike Brown still had it that year.

Fro Daddy rocked the 6 on his 1-2-5 Yamaha in '94

It's so silly that those numbers haven't been chosen yet. I would jump at the chance to run the 6.

I'm just glad Blake Baggett didn't listen to the naysayers and had the balls to run the 4.

Although he's sure done a shitty job at representing it. I wouldn't be surprised if he switches from the 4.

single digits give a better sense of job security and opened doors.even, mike brown and his old # 3 got more press and exposure when his results dwindled.wilson's#15 bike blends in the pack with the rest of the double digiters.
bbaggett would be a fool to hand the 4 back.

I agree with that visibility part. For even how tall Dean is, he is hard to pick out on track.

I can't speak to Blake's performance compared to Ricky Carmichael, but he did what it took to earn the right to run it.

I definitely don't hate him for picking it. In fact, I respect it - and I hope he keeps it.

I'm pretty sure Langston is the last rider to run it.
