I noticed a lot of guys wearing seven gear at Lorettas. Even at surfercross, there were a few guys wearing it. Has anyone noticed at the local level if guys are wearing it? I guess with the summer James is having, his gear company may be the only bright spot.

Not really local, but I was flippin' through the TV the other day and saw "Motocross" so I clicked on it. Turns out it was RedBull X-Fighters freestyle and I noticed this guy wearing it. Oh, and BTW, that whole freestyle course was on water. Not really a freestyle fan, but that was pretty gnarly looking. One slip up and you're in the lake.

So, so expensive
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but everything is 'expensive'.
You can't fill a tank of gas in a car for under 50 bucks (my truck is 75 bucks just to top it off.)......you go to the grocery store and it's simple to drop 100 bucks on fruits/veggies or other staples. School supplies for my kids........holy shit don't get me started.
If your complaining about a set of gear in the 21st century being TOO EXPENSIVE, then this isn't the right sport for you.

wow you must be the worst shopper on the planet. You can get 3 or 4 sets of 1 season old Fox gear on clearance for the price of 1 JS7 set.

I was the only one i had seen wearing it when it first came out and I was riding at my local ohv park. Yet recently went to Hangtown to ride and saw a couple guys wearing it. I just picked up the all the all black with red gloves. Yes I love me some seven but i agree it is costly. Thats why my new gear is for race days only, I tend to get holes in all my gear from trail riding and falling. Atleast the track has the more forgiving dirt.

Well you can defiantly pick out the rich kids at the track...I mean $85 for a damn jersey come on! Oh and that oakley airbrake that James wears too that's a spendy little unit as well...before long we will have to take out small personal loans from the bank just get new gear, but our sport keeps "growing" for the better.......

Your "rich kids" comment shows you're ignorant.

There's a reason they sell KIA's, and there's a reason they sell Bentley's. You get what you pay for. If you did some research into the lens material of the Airbrake goggles and the protection aspect of them, you might understand the price tag. And Seven gear fits and vents like any other.

You spend $8k on a bike, might as well be protected and comfortable while doing so.

The prices in MX have risen with technology and inflation.

Thanks for that rant. This was a very positive thread and you brought hate into it. Makes me think that gear prices are not the reason our sport will not grow. Possibly it could be from closed minded, negative moto guys who don't welcome new brands to the industry and bitch just to bitch.

Well well well looks like I twisted a tit here. Let's look at it NOT from a Negitive stand point but from one of a kid that wants to get into the sport and obviously this kids parents are fronting the bill. Well mom James has this stuff so I want it too. Well Jonny we just purchased you a $4000 85 and now your saying we have to spend another $1000 on your riding gear. Get real and get over yourself dirty mike I didn't bring hate into anything I brought the truth. I going to go out on a limb and say it pry takes roughly $30 to built an airbrake. Then they mark it up to $200 because it's "the next cool thing" it's how it works I've been around the sport for 24 years our not talking to some noob bud

I can assure you their margins are the same % as their other goggles.

If Johnny wants Seven gear, he can go get a job and get IMO the best fitting, most comfortable gear on the market. If Johnny's mom is tapped out, she can get the low end gear from any of the main gear companies.

When Johnny turns 16, is he going to demand a Ferrari because he saw Alonso on TV? SHould Ferrari lower their prices so Johnny can live beyond his means? There's a market for premium items, and entry level items.

The only thing your twisting are your own panties. Maybe Johnny should get into soccer or basketball if getting appropriate safety gear to startis a stretch.

Don't want to get I to a vital pissing match, but money isn't the issue. The gear is expensive as compared to fox, Thor, answer, even TLD which manufactures the damned stuff.

I see your point Kyle. I haven't had the chance to try any of the seven gear on so I can't say how it fits but I'm going to take these positive words from the people that have. Bbbbut seriously the nike boot was the best boot on a professional track. It was so premium it didn't have a price tag....but they didn't last long (durability and company wise)

If your dealer has some in stock, go check it out and put your hands on it.The material is very light and has a lot of stretch to it, and it vents very well. The material around your butt is very soft and stretchy and keeps your pants from falling down. If you got a chance to wear it, you'd understand the price tag. It's premium gear.

I've worn all of the brands you posted above, and nothing comes close. Including the TLD SE Corse Pro that is $165 for pants, $75 for jersey.

I appreciate you not coming back with an attack. Just healthy debate, here.

I don't really understand the Nike boot deal. I can't defend that in the slightest.

I have no affiliation with Seven, or Oakley, or any other brand BTW. I pay full price for all my gear.
