I learned this from the best: Inside jokes on race broadcasts are not really that "inside" (do that quote-marks thing with your fingers if you're reading aloud) and they actually help the whole crew and the people in the truck get through their very long days because they are listening for it -- the word usually comes up the night before over dinner -- and it also helps the talking head who is trying to fit it in and make the shows more fun and entertaining...

Unless the word is something unsettling and discomforting to casual race-watchers, like "petcock" or "monkeybutt,"and even the purists in the audience will wince if the inside word is even more cringe-inducing, like "brain fart" or "Cannondale."

I hope that the powers-that-be clean house (or booth, I guess) and get us some better crown molding because having fun is not the point of sports and entertainment, Isn't that right, David Bailey? Now pass the vaseline, I'm coming through!

Ralph knows more about sx than most of the so-called experts on this board.

Bro.

If something as small as the word of the dead angers you, I suggest you seek some help.

If I was the producers of the mx shows I would be pissed off about using airtime to do this inside joke, word of the day BS. by definition, an inside joke, is not funny to anyone but weege and whoever he bet. And if I was Baggett I would be trippin on it definitely. So on an inside joke Weege saddled that dumb nickname on Baggett? not very professional at all from a sport caster.

I'd love to see Art show up and be "third man in" on a broadcast in the next year.

Bingo!!

Some of you folks complaining;
Put yourself in a small room and do nothing but stare at a screen and talk for about 5 or 6 hours and then do it every weekend for about 40 weeks a year.....see if you don't want to have some fun with the little things like "crown molding".
Keeps an announcer sane.

"Now pass the vaseline, I'm coming through!"

Here is something you never want to hear in prison.

Seriously, Weege is awesome and if you think otherwise, you're wrong and I'll fight you for it.

Only way the broadcast could get any better is if Kevin Kelly could be used (sparingly).

weege is the best mx announcer to date. and yes that includes art. look at the age of weege and how skilled he is in casting...gonna be around long time and has heck of a future in motorsports.

One advantage of the hearing loss that accompanies old age is I can't hear 80% of what the announcers are constantly babbling about anyway.

And don't care to.

I listen all the time and I don't want to be on the "inside" if that's what it entails.

Weigandt is an intelligent, quick witted announcer and is above having to sneak in a "secret word" into the broadcast.

And Steve Matthes has his own attributes that bring a humorous side to the sport of motocross. He has his PlupMX Radio show that is the perfect vehicle for his talents.

Not a need for this word thing that that a handful of viewers find amusing. Remember you are not trying to attract the "inside joke" viewers, they are already watching the broadcast, you are trying to get new viewers and the new current viewer to tune in for the next race.

I love the word of the week and I think Weege is the best announcer to date by far. I love GL with him too - it's a dream team. IMO, the only thing that could be better is having Pingree on with Weege. We are so lucky to have them.

Like Weege. Dislike GL. Dislike word of the week.
