My heart also goes out to the 15yo that hit Tanner. I know he is in a bad place right now, even though it was a freak accident that wasn't his fault. He is carrying a burden that I hope he will be able to cope with in time.

I love motocross and always will, but this is the awful shadow side of the sport.
Yes I am talking about smaller bikes, was this 13 year old on a 125 or 250?
As for this not being the post, I disagree, we ALL feel sad about this, some even anger, especially those of us with children. We have expressed our sorrow along with that the desire to try and never see a similar tragedy happen again.
I feel horrible for all involved including the young man that hit him. Prayers go out to both families.
They do have 2 tracks. Main and Mini. Unless there was an issue with the mini track then it was the parents decision to have the kid on the 50 out there
Pit Row
Quick story,
My dad allowed me on the Glen Helen main track when I was roughly 10 riding a 60, and I should NEVER have been allowed out there with big bikes. I was not mature enough nor did I have the experience necessary to be on a national track with adults.
After Talladega turn ( at G.H. turn there is usually a step off, which at the time most people were hitting 4th gear wide open before the left hander. I was barley in 2nd gear and fell on the landing of the step off. Not knowing what to do I just kind of stood on the landing. I can remember looking towards the take off and all I see is a yz400 mid air coming directly for my head, by some miracle a dad grabbed me by my chest protector and ripped me off the track. The guy on the 400 actually broke the mouth guard of my helmet with his foot peg. That's how close this was. I never met the guy who pulled me off the track, he just asked me if I was okay and walked away with his head shaking. I can honestly say it was the closest I have ever come to maybe not coming home, and if it wasn't for that dad I probably wouldn't have
My dad saw this whole story play out, and he was never the same. I know he was mad at himself for allowing me on the track, as he did not allow me on a main track with big bikes until I was probably 13.
Point is there is a time and place for kids to be on the main track, and regardless of skill, its size that usually ends up being the problem.
Rest In Peace Tanner, you have a lot of great guys up there to show you the tracks.
