Doesn't seem very fair for these guys that work normal day jobs to have to line up against a rider like Robbie Reynard. I think he should be in the pro sport class. 
I would love to hear MX Sports explanation to this. The only thing it would do is make racing both fair and more exciting for riders and spectators alike.
Let the real amateurs race other real amateurs, and make the guys who were talented enough to leave the amateur ranks race each other. Can someone please give a compelling argument to that statement??
who cares. go race, have fun. winning the +35 does nothing for you besides being able to say is you won the +35 class. if you get beat by robbie, then you can tell everyone you got second behind robbie in the +35 class. wtf is the problem.
whats ironic is robbie was probably gonna beat you in the 12-13 class 20 years ago and you couldn't complain then. there is no difference.
I would much rather earn my way there to race robbie than get there because he was kept from racing it.

Instead I went to university - and picked up riding afterwards.
I want to make plus 25 and when eligible plus 35 BECAUSE former pros are allowed. The allure to loretta's IS how exclusive it is - and if I make it - I will have to beat people I never beat growing up - and will for the first time in my life get to race against people who DID make the big leagues. that's what's so awesome, getting to race with some great names.
I feel loretta's IS NOT for the vets who are weekend warriors. If that's your dream - race local.
Rather Lorettas is for aspiring future professionals to test their status and challenge their riding skills on an amazingly challenging track that gets rough unlike anything else you get to race all year, but much like a pro national will get.
After that - loretta's is where top national vet riders get to test themselves against other top national vet riders. It's not fair to ask trampas parker at age 45 to line up against the open A class. His meal ticket no longer rides on aspiring results. It's not fair to the open A class for trampass to line up taking a spot away (even though that kid should probably hang it up anyways since he was beat by a 45 year old)
These top vets dont have ANY other avenue to ride against such good talent on such a good challenging track. So for one week a year they get this chance - and for the other 51 weeks of the year- the average vet riders have plenty of places to race. That's how I see it...as an HONOR and something truly special to qualify for loretta's - and opening it up ruins what loretta's is about.
Here's novel idea - lets give everyone in life an equal paycheck and first place trophies - even if they haven't earned it....
At least in golf they have the Senior Tour, which recognizes them as the older pros they still are and always will be.

If you want to race a Vet National, go to the Vet National. There you can ride what ever skill level you want. Over 40 Z, Over 40 X, Over 40 R, Over 40 D, Over 40 P, Over 40 C. Then you can say that you are the Over 40 alphabet champ.

Offering another class to an already over abundance of classes. The focus at Loretta's is not the Vet classes. That is why they are open skill level. Did you forget that there is a Over 30 B/C class?
Again, if riders are so fixed on winning a championship in the Over 35 C, D, E or F class, they are welcome to race the Vet Nationals. Its open to anybody, they dont even have to race qualifiers.

Wrong. They are no longer current pros but are now former pros. The powers that be think that former pros racing with true amateurs in an amateur national championship is no problem. Just fine and dandy.
I am not sure what the actual fixes would be, but I hear the OP's point here -- we need to revamp this and give some more guys who just race for fun a chance to compete in the vet classes at LL. Right now have +25, +35, +40, +45 for those former Pro guys to always battle in, but only one Vet B/C +30 for everyone else. We need to restrict this in one way, and open it up in others.

And where do you draw the line? Are you going to weed out every guy who ever held a pro license? Unless you had a huge influx of guys quitting pro and showing up the next year I don't see it as problem. I think it should just be something along the lines of a time period like 5 years or something since you rode pro. I don't think the answer is adding a more B/C type classes.
