I can't take credit for that set-up, it's straight from HRC. I have found that in most cases, probably 90%, that people who swear by the PWK just can't jet a bike. In 2002, Honda tried the PWK in testing, but went with the TMX because it actually made a full 2hp more than the PWK on their dyno.
Is this true for the TMX 36mm stock on a cr 125? I have a PWK on my 250 but, am gonna give your jetting a try. I am changing my 125 to a PJ carb with 52 pilot 165 main 1469m needle. Its a high compression motor race gas only 9.2 cc head running an 89 dome crown piston inside an HPP cylinder. curious as to wht I can do with the 36 TMX. Thanks for the info. I have to agree the PWK is a super easy mod and makes a better power curve than a stock TMX even a TMX with JD jet kit on a cr 250. By all means if the TMX 38 with your set up is better I am damn sure willing to giv eit a try.

Leaning out the nozzle on the TMX isn't a secret. Lots of folks have tried it on their CR250's, with mixed results. The reality of mx is that high peak HP numbers don't always result in the best power delivery. We don't race on dynos, we race on mx tracks.

I have had the hardest time dialing in my pilot circuit in my PWK ever since I got it from JD. When I first started it up, I had to constantly blip the throttle to keep it running. Gonna try the CEJ needle in it as per CamP, but if that doesn't get me some low-end consistency, I might go back to the TMX. Since I had the '04 with the TPS, it actually ran really solid at times, I was just fiddling with it in the middle of rebuilding my top end. Don't know if I'll have good results or not, but I'm not having this "jet it and forget it" experience with my PWK. It's likely 100% due to my own inability, but still.

Thanks I wasn't looking for more power just wanted to know if it produced a cleaner burn my bike is running rich at 32:1 and is loading up pretty bad so I'm gonna go 40:1 and just wanted to know if this would help..

Best part about living in AZ, bare pipes don't rust. Don't put any coating or protectant on it. WD-40 and scotchbrite to get it clean and then ride it to turn it blue. I only hit it with the WD about once a year and that's just to remove stains. I actually wipe all the wd off after cleaning it and don't leave any on. It never rusts.

About 1 year old...

What bike?

32:1 is not the prob. Don't put less oil in. Jetting is the prob. With proper jetting a bike will not load up at 32:1.

No, no the SC1 only goes on the plastics/rubber/vinyl...when you wash the PC bare pipe you'd better be sure there's no water left on it or it'll start rusting by the next morning, my pipe get's a scotchbrite scrubbing and a coat of WD40 with each wash...

OK, so something has changed or gone wrong. Leaky crank seal or intake manifold or air leak somewhere else? Don't adjust your oil ratio or jetting to compensate for a problem. Find the problem.

No rust on bare pipes in AZ. I leave the water on mine all the time. No problem.

If you go to 40:1 you will be getting richer....fuel wise. But to answer your question, yes, i think it helps alittle bit.

Went 1 step richer (from 48 to 50) on the pilot - around the shop it sounds great - no loading up or anything.

Excited to try it on the track next Wednesday.

Edit - On Wednesday night I went to a 185 main and gained more top end.

I, as FGR, am worried about a possible air leak. I am going to check the crank seals, and I triple checked the Vforce 3 air boot, and it looked good.

Bringing this back.......I have a 03 250 I traded for. I love the bike just trying to straighten it out. It still has the TMX carb and it came with a JD kit. The bike had the blue needle on 3rd clip when I got it, and sputters rich at part throttle. Went Red needle 3rd clip and almost seemed lean. Red on 4th is too rich again. Who has experience with the JD kit? The instructions say Red 3 is richer than Blue 2. Any Ideas?

It's not just the needle. Call jd jetting they will get you lined out. It's almost inpossie to jet a bike over the internet. Fuels oils air all that makes a different.

You should go from red 3 to blue 2. I bet that would actually work well for you. Like Rmartin said though, you need to sort out your other circuits.

And for the tmx crowd ....I have 3 tmx and only one was cool with the jd kit. It actually resides on a buddys husky 360 92 now. Really woke that bike up. Alas twas never even close anywhere in the power to my amazingly perfect 2000 pwk. I am actually getting ready to try the new pwm carb as it us said to mix so much better in the top i should be using a 170 or so main. I shall report in 3 or 4 weeks when i get mine back together......

Right now the bike sits with the suspension off - '07 CRF front forks and shock will go to my local suspension guy for clean up, and a new rear spring. My front brake is good, but it's not "DAAAAMNNNNN good" like my CRF and FGR's YZ are.

I ordered a mityvac to fix that up.

Great news, don't know how big you are but dropping down might lose some low end, but of course you'll gain on top..another thing they suggested was to change the shifter and use the one off the 125, I did it but then changer to a Hammerhead...Wink

Why the 125 shifter? What does it change?

My issue is the bike is SOOOO snappy in the mid range, and my throttle control SUCKS, I sometimes have a hard time working with it.
