Reed burned more money last weekend in Vegas than Roczen has made in his entire career. The dude is loaded.

So Roczen makes more than Reed and Reed is not loaded? I always thought he was.
The best way to make a small fortune in motorsports is to start with a large one.

Reed made good money back in the days when motor sports sponsorship + factory money was flowing, and the economy was booming. Then, he made some very good investments. Today, the money coming in is a LOT less. Companies have realized that motorsports sponsorship was more of a corporate ego boost than a sensible use of marketing budgets. There is no money train like the old days. This is impacting ALL motorsports.

Today, Reed has to pay for all the expenses of running a team, and whatever is left over is what he 'makes'. There are differences of opinion on what that number is. Many think Reed is negative cash flow already...and few who know the numbers in this sport think he is really netting any serious money. He is certainly earning less than he would make just riding for another team. Chads own agent (Steve Astephen) has stated that he recommended Chad fold up 22 and just go race for a top team and get paid in 2014. If it was not for Discount Tire...22 would not be racing right now. Chad is no fool.

If Chad hired KRoc...he would almost certainly be losing big money. Expenses would go up by about $250K a year just for a 2nd bike and associated resources...plus he would have to pay KR about $2M. That is $ off the already thin bottom line.

RCH, 22 and JGR could all be looked at as professional hobby teams, two of them backed by people with a true love of the sport. JGR has the deepest pockets...then RCH...then Chad...who is small fry in comparison to the backers of those other teams.

Like I said before that is on face value, but with thinking outside the box and changing the paradigm its possible they could make it happen. Roczen would be a value added asset to the team. If RCH can do it than any of these loaded guys could. Unless Hart's breadwinner is bankrolling the whole thing then that's a different story.

Dude, just listen to yourself. It's clear you don't have a business-oriented mind. There is no "thinking outside the box" bullshit when it comes to thin margins and cash flows. You only do what makes sense monetarily. Sure, KRoc would be an asset for any team, but I highly doubt that his presence at TwoTwo would generate enough additional sponsorship money or other income to cover his expenses.

And "changing the paradigm" would mean Chad pays out of pocket. Period. He's not going to do that.

There's nothing out of the box that could make money just appear. RCH has full factory support, whereas chad pays for works stuff like suspension, wheels and hubs I believe and a few other things. RCH also has casino money which Chad does not.

I remember Ken Roczen in his first season aboard a RMZ 250f in the GP's. Dude was amazing in Bellpuig, I would never say, though, that he would win 2 supercross races in his rookie year with the big boys.

When he switched over KTM made a lot of sense to me, since KTM buys out every single future contender. Musquin, Roczen, Herlings... Then, you think, well, he is german, gets red bull as a personal sponsor and the austrian brand and you think they could be attached for life.

But, woohoo, honestly, I understand completely that having RC as a team manager and your beloved Suzukis in your truck is an extra, but still. RCH has to have offered him a crazy amount of money, even that KTM could not afford, or maybe would not.

What I can't get is Red Bull still being his personal sponsor since RCH has monster?

Maybe the Husqvarna next effort in US has left empty the budget of KTM.

Anyways, I'm willing to see if this rumour is true.

Than how is RCH going to do it? Your mind is no more business oriented than mine, so if you don't mind, mind your own mind and not mine . According to your logic RCH would have the same problem.

Also everyone forgets chad employs people on his team he has a responsibility as an employer to ensure his staffs wages are able to be paid throwing money around willy nilly and spending above your means is a sure fire way to end up with a folded team and all his staff down the job center.

You do realize not every team has the same amount of funding, RCH has much deeper pockets due to the Casinos and full on factory support. It's simple dollars and cents, when you don't have money, spending more doesn't magically make more appear.

You act like RCH and TwoTwo operate the same way, when they don't. As Skippie said, RCH has factory support, whereas TwoTwo does not.

They are different teams that operate differently. RCH has more money and more resources than TwoTwo, end of story.

End of story if you want it to be, I never said he was going there all I ever said is Reed is loaded and it could make sense. If RCH can get money and funding then so could Reed. If RCH can get factory support then so could Reed. But according to you these teams don't generate money (which is very possible given the track record) so RCH will eventually lose money. If these teams can make money than there are multiple ways to make something work. It is a matter of if Reed wants to or not, not if he can or not, because he can if he wants. He's loaded.

You're reasoning is so flawed it's not even funny. There is only so much money to go around in this sport. The Mfg. can't just go around and give free bikes and works parts to every team that runs their bike. There is no up side to Reed dropping a couple mil of his own money to get Roczen. It's not like he is bringing any sponsors over or media coverage because Chad is already one of the most popular and talked about riders. There is no thinking outside the box on this. There simply is no funding for the caliber of rider Roczen is.

Why is it so hard for people to grasp the concept of PERSONAL and TEAM sponsors. Monster sponsors Chad Read not Two Two. That is why the Monster logos are not on the bike or the truck. Kenny could keep red bull and still go to two two although I doubt it as the RCH rumor seems pretty strong and just needs a PR.
You don't think Chad used/ uses money from Monster to fund his team? If he does, how would you feel if you found out your money was used to fund a Red Bull rider?

OT I know...but enough has been said about Davey Millsaps riding out his Rockstar KTM ink outdoors, then hopping to either Team Monster Kawasaki or onto a Team TwoTwo Kawasaki that it sounds right.

Reed could probably afford Millsaps, and I could see him winning some races with either green bike under him.

I doubt he does but at that point it is Chad's money, he can do whatever he want's with it. That's why it is a PERSONAL sponsorship deal. It benefits one person and one person only, in this case that is Chad. If they sponsored the team it would be the Discount tire/Monster Energy/Two Two motorsports team, but it's not therefore Roczen could hold on to that RedBull deal.

That's not true and if it were than Reed could just as well get the same or other / competitor sponsors as RCH and support. Even if Roczen doesn't bring his own sponsors he still would increase the value of sponsoring Two Two if he were there. I am not saying there is no risk, because there is lots, but Reed has the resources to further invest in it if he wanted to. Evidently he doesn't want to, because if he did than he would.

Well, maybe it is semantics here but he can if he wants, he's a bad ass and he is loaded. Now, maybe it's not worth the investment, worth the risk, worth the effort, but certainly he could. From what you are saying it is not worth the investment or risk to him. Hart can invest every penny he has ever earned into RCH without risk of affecting his future or lifestyle. He could literally lose every penny and his life would be exactly the same as if his investment quadrupled it's value. Reed can't do that so, he choses not to. However he certainly has the funds, the skills, the acumen, and anything else needed to do it if he was willing to risk it. Not saying he should just saying he could.

I don't know if they are or not, but at least in Hart's case it wouldn't matter if he did.

I hear you keep saying it, you just happen to be incorrect every time.
So, Reed is not loaded? You would know more than me.

If a lot of people that you are arguing with are saying the same thing about you, it should eventually set in that you probably arent correct. I dont think some people logically understand this concept.
