..............and the only guy who can beat RV

Hope James is ok and maybe it is just a good twist or "stinger" as Emig called it.....Maybe he skips Vegas and then 2 more weeks before GH and he is ready to go...

Aside from the number of championships he's already won, or the way he completely revolutionized the way the bikes are ridden, he took a couple of DNF's and still managed to be the only rider who had a chance to steal the championship from RV.
Well said. Really strong season for JS7. Sometimes results on paper just doesn't tell the whole story

I'd sure sleep well at night after my retirement if I was JS7. He's done some great things for the sport. His career hasn't lived up the the ideals of OTHER PEOPLE, being that he didn't do the typical smooth ramp up and sign off of success expected of him over a typical amount of years. Life doesn't always work that smooth though. Instead he made his own unique impact on the sport. I'd go out on a limb and say it's a lot of other fast MFer's out there directly because of JS7 setting the bar so high for anyone who had in their mind they wanted to be a top guy over the last 7-10 years.

We all laugh and joked thru his hard times about not keeping it on 2 wheels and such but he's a bad dude. I don't think anyone that has ever had to seriously go thru him for a win thinks he's even slightly funny, that's for damn sure.

I concur, how can you bag on someone who wins 5 SX races in a season against such a quality field? People seem hell bent on crucifying anyone and everyone over any perceived weakness. In another thread someone called Dungey "soft", which is hilarious considering that guy might as well be carved out of solid steel. Sometimes I think the average vitard prefers massaging their own ego based on the success of "their guy", rather than watching the glorious human struggle that is motocross racing. I think it just takes less brain power to say "OMFGEEZ Villopoto won heez the BEST EVARRR", then to watch, analyze, and appreciate everything that contributes to the results of a season. James gave us some incredible performances this year, it would have been boring as shit without him. Thanks for putting it on the line for our entertainment, it was awesome.

To even get out of B class at the local level you have to have a kill everything thought process, so I'm sure he does get bummed from time to time on the 20/20 short hind sight. I think he was probably bummed in this way a season or 2 ago but now I think he's better embraced what he really is worth. I also think that acceptance of reality has contributed to his resurgence we've seen this year. He's seemed to learn to tow the line on the not so good nights and really capitalize on the good nights the way we all as fan's (or not) screamed at him to figure out for years and years when all he wanted to do was go for a Tyson style 1st round KO. He is finally able mentally to go rounds and fight a full fight. That makes this possible knee injury even that much more a bad deal timing wise. He may have or may still be extremely dangerous outdoors this year based on all this.... I was really looking forward to seeing it!

YOSHIMURA SUZUKI’S JAMES STEWART INJURES KNEE AT NEW JERSEY SUPERCROSS
Optimistic Stewart looking toward upcoming Motocross season
East Rutherford, NJ (April 28, 2014) – The first-ever AMA/FIM Supercross race at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, was a tough one for Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart. The two-time Supercross Champion came into the penultimate round of the series second in the overall championship points. But after turning in two solid qualifying sessions and finishing second in his heat race, the Yoshimura Suzuki rider twisted his left knee on the third lap of the main event. As a result, Stewart was forced to pull out of Saturday night’s race.

“This was a bummer,” said Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Mike Webb. “James was about fourth into the first turn but then he got shuffled around and came out about ninth. Then he worked his way up and was going for fourth when he went into the off-camber turn and lost the front end and planted his leg. He twisted his knee pretty good and so he pulled off. It’s a pretty bad twist but we don’t know the extent right now, so we’re going to get it checked out next week. Hopefully, we’ll be good to go. Right now, we’re keeping our fingers crossed and looking forward to getting ready for Motocross.”

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s next event is the 17th and final round of the 2014 AMA/FIM Supercross Championships on Saturday, May 3rd, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.

As reported by Cycle News a couple of hours ago.
James Stewart plans to finish out the Supercross Series at Las Vegas
" Things did not look good for James Stewart and the Yoshimura Suzuki Team after the New Jersey Supercross. After planting his knee on the ground awkwardly during the third lap of the 450 main event, the former Supercross champ immediately pulled off the track and rode straight back to the Suzuki pits. That’s never a good thing - he was definitely out for the night, but what about next week at the final Supercross round at Las Vegas or, more importantly, the upcoming first round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship? Luckily, it appears the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

The word from the Suzuki camp is that Stewart currently plans on competing at the Vegas Supercross final on May 3, but not after a good dose of knee rehab. After almost a couple of days, Stewart’s knee is, according to the team, “in much better shape” than they thought it would be.So, for now, it looks as though Stewart is good for Vegas"

Gonna be at Vegas and would love to see James there but it wouldn't upset me one bit to have James sit it out and be healthy for the gate drop at Glen Helen. Great news to read it's not as bad as they feared

I just hope he is still able to train during the week in between races. That was the whole problem last year when he hurt his knee, he was unable to train and basically came into the outdoors out of shape.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it, but James posted on instagram late yesterday that he is racing Vegas, the knee isn't as bad as he thought.
