I just about shit when I saw what he is currently riding!! 1981 RM125X!!!!....checked the V.I.N. and it's the real deal. He rode it on the weekend!!

I said SOLD!!! ........To me Woohoo Woohoo

Thanks guys! I have always wanted one. Still remember the day I saw the ad in MXA for the new Suzuki tiddler.

I rode a '79 Honda CR125 at the time. All I could think to myself was........shit. Then it got worse when 2 guys I rode with got brand new RM125's with frickin' liquid-cooling and Full Floater single shock.....with linkage!! Ha!

Anyone that has pics of their own 81-83 RM125 resto or old race photos, please post!

The '81 RM125 is thought of as one of the fastest motors in that time frame of early linkage 125's. Good find.

I raced a YZ125 in '81. When it was broken down one weeken, a friend loaned me his '81 RM and I quickly figured out that I racing with a huge disadvantage all year. Great bike!

Back in 81 here in BC Canada, the yz outsold all other brands that year, not sure why. I was one of the suckers who bought the wrong yellow bike!

Here in Texas, the '81 RM125's were delivered to the shops a few months later than the YZ's. I had a deposit on an RM, but I got tired of waiting so I bought a YZ instead. I should have waited for the RM.

I don't remeber seeing those trick works looking numberplates being sold in 81. If I did, I would have had one. I ran the huge JT suoercross front plate on my RM. You had the factory look going on from the gear and trimmed Tony D front fender, right down to the white fork protectors with the 3 strips of black tape.
Can you believe there was a time we actually rode with open face helmets?
If I could go back in time id go back to the beginning of the 81 race season.
