Just consider for a moment that the immense forces involved in that landing are all being borne just by a handful of 3mm-ish diameter strands of wire that are the spokes.

And that in turn the only thing holding those spokes are tiny threads inside the spoke nipples.

And imagine how many times Bubba's body weight is going through his arms and legs.

This sport is amazing. And under-appreciated by the masses.

Yup, I remember a loooong time ago he spoke it in a magazine article. Said he always tries to land on fork when coming up short.

Wow. Even No. 7's mistakes are epic examples of his walk on water greatness to some of you guys. what I saw was a really lucky save as he rode to his limit, try to run down No. 1.

"Had he kept the front end high, his front wheel would have been on the other side of that landing. . . "

Nope, not a chance in hades he would have made it TO the top, much less over it. . .

Ask most riders, I believe they would rather get that front wheel over the top, instead of plowing into the face. i.e. McElrath.

Peace

Just a thought: I don't know if it is intentional, or instinctive, but he tends to land on the front wheel when he comes up really short. Had he kept the front end high, his front wheel would have been on the other side of that landing, the fork would have not soaked up much impact, leaving his frame, wrists, and ankles to do all the work.

Factory suspension.....he knows as long as he uses every inch he possibly can than he will probably be ok. Stock suspension? Broke ankles, wrists..

The bowling balls cushioned the impact and helped James save it.

He realized he was in for It the moment he left the lip. Look at his team in the second photo. They're all leaning their heads trying to mentally push him up and over...LOL

I knew you would pick up on that, Lenny. It was a nickname I got playing intercity PAL football.

This is why I say, Instead of the "Pass of the Race" before the race is over, we should have the "Case of the Race" after the race is over because we all hate to case.
