Team USA last year did not comly to FIM regs on fuel and sound, can't comment about drugs, dont' know, but for sure, not compliant on the other two, one of their bikes was over 114 dB's I know which one, but can't say , FIM limit last year was 96dB =/- 2dB,s, this year, 94dB. AMA is FIM affiliated so should be running same rules for their own Championships.
Bullshit, if you know "for sure” show some proof; How do you know?

You guys should be aware that just because something is written doesn't mean that it is necessarily true. For example: JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" is a fantasy book that didn't really happen. Yes, I hate to break it to ya but there is no Middle Earth, Elves, Hobbits, and all the other cool "completely fabricated" things that were detailed in the book. Much like the above mentioned statements.

Getting excited now as the main event is only 1 week away. Team USA fly in today apparently.

Here's my question though. I don't have any official facts, I wish I did, but

I remember from Matterley 2 years ago that Team USA would only ride if they were exempt from the FIM rules on noise, fuel and drugs. Its a fact that US teams use fancy fuels and very loud pipes to boost power output compared with Europe, where they are not allowed. I believe the exemption was allowed so they wouln't have to re-engineer the bikes.
The soundlevel and fuel differences were also very apparent with Villy's bike compared to the Euro ones at Budds last year.

I understand that Team Kawasaki would not want to spend a lot of time sorting quieter pipes and jetting for cheap pump gas, BUT, surely everyone should be racing to the same basic set of rules??????????? The European Kawasaki Team should be able to give them parts to meet the FIM rules...

The Americans are here, so let's start making excuses of why our riders are second rate.

Serious..stop your crying!
And be thankful that Team USA & Team Australia are even showing up at a second rate FIM event... for nothing but bragging rights.

Every year we go back and forth and bench race. But...

This seems like a pretty serious accusation. It's basically saying that on all levels, the American Team is cheating. Where are the facts to back this up?
If the powers that be are not enforcing their rules, why would we want to discredit the hard working riders?

I was at the MXoN @ Budds and stood at tech on Sat for a while taking pictures and watching, Every bike was brought into the compund and the mechanics usually had a couple of different silencers I suppose in case one failed the sound test, of course I couldnt see the meter or what the readings were but every bike was subjected to the same scrutiny as far as I saw, I didnt actually get a pictue of the tech guys holding the meter up to the bike , you'll just have to take my word on that part. You can see the Ukranian KTM awaiting thier turn in tech. I think its silly to suggest that the FIM enforces their tech rules either in favor of or against any team. Heres a picture of Ferry's Kawi leaving the tech area

Taken from an interview of Tim Ferry , conducted by Steve Matthes, from the Racer X website:
http://www.racerxonline.com/article/5-minutes-with-tim-ferry-923.aspx

What about your bike being a bit detuned for over there?
That’s not going to be an issue, I raced with the quieter muffler already at the last national and it’s all good, that won’t be a problem. I know we’re going to go riding on Thursday over there, so we’ll figure anything out right there. I’m not too concerned.

Top 10 Excuses of why The Americans beat us.

The event is not fair.

Your bikes are to fast.

Your Country is to big.

Your bikes are to loud.

Your fuel is better then ours.

The track has to many jumps.

The track was to smooth.

The track was to dry.

Your riders are on drugs.

All the above.

Do you have any proof that the US team has/is breaking the rules, or using PED's?

That kind of accusation is really low class

If you dislike the american team, just man up and say it, dont beat around the bush.

I remember it wasn't an issue when the Americans rode the "production rule" bikes and the Euros were still riding "works" bikes. The USA still won.

That's right, and they hit the other riders on the head with flat shovels before they race.

Also they are not getting paid(no purse money i have heard of).
They are professional racers (professional means they get paid).
The races they do here in the States...they get paid for. Wink
Anything else is second rate.

Of course they get paid you numpty Tongue they just don't take home any race winnings. Riders are paid a salary by their team with an agreed win bonus scheme.

And anyway... by talking up the amount of $ that US riders get paid you're just justifying a prime reason why many GP riders head over to America to compete in your 'premier series'.

how about the fact that the Euros are racing works bikes? i mean, Coppin's hydro clutch, one off mag parts, carbon fiber air boxes and sub frames, ect...

if you really wanted to get into it, i think the Euros are allowed more than we are.
