Villopoto got beat, plain and simple. Villopoto knows it, Stewart knows it, Villopoto's uncle knows it (that's why he's posting what he's posting), and so do a lot of other people. No shame in losing to Stewart, he's pretty much made every top rider look silly at times.

And RV has made everyone look silly the past 4 years when it comes to this racing thing. When RV " is on "......there aint anyone running with him. After he wraps this title up......I think the nationals is going to be a severe schooling lesson.....and RV will be holding classes.

BTW.....just posting that because that is what's been happening for quite some time. No reason to think anything is going to change any time soon.

RV has made the best look silly, there's no doubting that. But do you honestly think RV wanted to be passed by Stewart, title on the line or not? I sure don't.

When Stewart is on, I think he's nearly unbeatable. It's pretty much been the trademark of his career. And that's just my personal opinion. I respect yours just as well because RV is damn good. It's just good bench racing!
I agree with this. I think Rv is smart enough to know to not throw it away now too. im surprised he rebounded as well as he did tonight from being sick last week. I expected for him to still be lingering maybe a touch from it. good jobs from both guys. im glad stewart is riding great now to or this thing would be real boring. seems like dungey and ken have both lost there mojo as of late

I have never seen a group of fans so delusional and act so childish!! Yes, Stewart has ridden better in these last three races than he has in the last 5 years, but give it a break!! He's going to lose this championship because he has crashed his balls out one too many times this season, unlike RV.

The only reason people care about this win count is because they know JS can't make it an entire season with throwing it away. Think about, Stewart has 50 wins in almost 10 years in the class and has 2 sx titles to speak of, that's an average of 5 wins a season! It's seems impossible to get 5 wins a season and not be able to get a title....

9 seasons. One of which he missed from a torn ACL. 8. How many times has James "crashed his balls out" this year?

There will be a day when the Stewart fan(boy)s and the Villopoto fan(boy)s will realize how lucky they are to have seen two absolute legends of the sport race. They will be so happy they got to see these two legends go head to head on some occasions. Eventually, when their careers are over, they'll even be sad that the other rider is gone. Just wait. It'll happen. People will come to their senses eventually.

Anyway, Villopoto has been so solid this year in regards to consistency for the championship. I do still wonder if something is wrong though. Stewart running him down is not why I say that. Stewart can and will do that to anyone. Villopoto only has three wins this year and how many times has he been in the lead? I feel like the past three years once Villopoto got the lead, it was over. Aside from Minneapolis when Dungey ran him down and those races where Stewart was just on fire of course. This year, sometimes it has been him making mistakes and other times the other guy just gets by him for the win. Very uncharacteristic of him. I guess that shows how awesome he is though if I think something is wrong and he's got a 36 point lead.

This is James' 10th Season. His first season was 2005 on the big bike. I was at Phoenix when he broke his arm there.

But that is really beside the point I want to make:

Gentlemen, gentlemen. Let's face facts, be realists, and give credit where credit is due. I was a James Stewart fan from when he went pro until 2009 when he stopped racing outdoors and seemed more like he was into all the wrong stuff. He was secretive, evasive, and dishonest in his interviews. Now things are different. Maybe because he has gotten older and wiser, I don't know. But now he smiles a lot, is honest in his interviews, has a great sense of humor, and is riding like the great one he has always been. And because he has changed his ways and is back into racing again, and not all that other crap, I am back to being a fan of his.

Make no mistake: Ryan Villopoto is my favorite rider. He is the local boy done GREAT around here and we love him in the NW. I can't believe anyone would have a hard time understanding that. In the end I always want him to come out on top, just like I wanted the Seattle Seahawks to kick the crap out of the Denver Donkeys (which they did in a VERY big way...SUCK IT donkey fans Tongue )

With this season's championship-should he win it, RV will have shown that he is literally the 2nd best of all time in winning championships. He will be 2nd only to the GOAT. And if you bet against him in the outdoors-or ANY championship-you are crazy. Deep down, we all know that if you had to bet the lives of your children on who will win the championship, you would bet on RV.

At the same time, we are witnessing one of the most naturally talented riders-if not THE most-of all time achieve 2nd all-time in Supercross wins. That, my friends, is some very badass jojo right there. Think about that. More than RC, more than Reed, more than everyone except MC. Add to that he has the ability to put in rides like Toronto and it is easy to both be in awe of his ability and rank him as easily one of the greatest. But even Achilles has a weakness, and James has his: crashing. To me, that doesn't make him less great, it makes him human.

So at the end of the day, James can ride a motorcycle in a way RV ( or anyone else, so no shame there) will never be able to do. And RV can win championships in a way that only 1 other person (the GOAT) has ever been able to do.

Both truly, truly great riders and athletes that we are lucky to be able to watch out there. Blink your eyes and they will be gone, just as RC and Windham are now gone. As an RV fanboy, I don't need to diminish James' accomplishment to appreciate how awesome "my guy" is-especially since I am a Stewart fan as well!

As a pilot, Marine officer, and lover of military history, I would put it this way: Which fighter pilot was better...Chuck Yeager in his P-51 Mustang in the European Theater against the Germans or Dick Bong in his P-38 Lightning in the Pacific Theater against the Japanese? Answer: Neither. Both were killers. Both were multiple Aces. Both were great in their own way and both would kill you deader than a doornail if you had the misfortune to have an encounter with them.

your dreams come true and RV1 crashes, or gets taken out, or gets hurt in practice. or "if " a lightnnig bolt hits his truck on the way to the races, then all your "ifs'' will come true. And by the way when that happened, RV1 was behind JS7 being taken out
by KRoc. They have all started at the same place and rode the same amount of races against the same people and RV1 is 35
points ahead of 2nd place Ryan Dungey who "if" he wouldn't have crashed tonite may have been closer in points after tonite.
RV has gotten more to go his way than any other rider the last 3-4 years. Im not saying he hasn't worked hard or put himself in good positions.

BUT if Dungey doesn't have some DNF's, if Reed doesn't get hurt, if Stewart keeps it on two than RV has half as many titles as he has now. RV has won the titles and has rode well and for the most part outrode his competition when needed but he sure has had a lot of help.

Vitards kill me sometimes. The Uncle of the most dominate racer we have seen in sometime, who has done things others have not done before him with the most stacked field ever, is proud of his nephew extending his points lead tonight by 10 over 2nd place in the points and you guys have to be assholes and turn this into a James vs. RV thing and bad mouth the guy. Unreal.

James didn't "Dominate" last night. RV was right there at the line when the checkers fell. Less than a second I thnik
RV does not have to beat James. Period.
RV has matured and see's the big picture. Why not let James win, secure second and laugh all the way to the bank. Getting into a slug fest with James does nothing for RV this close to the end of the season.
It's called "conservation mode"

Bottom line is RV has owned the series for the past 4 years, with James on the line. Now all of the sudden James starts to beat him when RV isnt in "Charge mode" and all you nut huggers come out of the woods thumping your chest's and acting a fool.

It is very obvious before the start of the season that RV and JS were by far the fastest dudes in the class and it would come down to those 2 if James stayed healthy. They have both had bad races, they have both won several races and they are both the fastest ones on the line. I think it will be the same come outdoors but I think we can add Dungey into the mix outdoors.

James is super fast, RV is super fast, one is trying to beat a win record and one is trying to win a championship record. You ride differently depending on which one of those you are after.

Yeah, IF RC had more comp. other than Tim Ferry and Kdub he wouldn't have gone 24-0 twice
IF MC had more comp. other than Emig and Lusk he wouldn't have won 72 races and 7 chamionships
IF RV wouldn't have missed 2 season he would have even more titles
IF RV didn't get hurt RD wouldn 't have any titles in 450's
IF JS wouldn't have went to Yamaha he would be the GOAT
IF Robbie Reynard lived up to his potential he would have owned the sport

I could type 10000000 of these things IF I didn't have a life to attend to.

See we can all play the IF game, but all of that doesnt matter when we talk about racing. If everyone stayed healthy, didn't switch teams and "help" others along the way then I still think the outcomes are the same. Cream rises to the top just as it has since RV stepped up the big bikes.

When a rider gets not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 titles all in a row and against this current field of JS (2X former champion), Reed (former Champion), RD (former champion), and multiple 250F champions that have moved up to the big bike class, it's not "luck" or "good fortune". It comes from a shitload of skill as a rider, incredible support mechanically from his crew and team, a lot of hard work, amazing fitness and training, proper discipline regarding diet, and last but probably most importantly knowing exactly how hard to ride on "the edge" with not going over and doing it the most consistent from week to week.

What RV is doing isn't luck or good fortune. He has a whole race mulligan he could throw away if worst came to worse at this point plus could finish 2nd place every race the rest of the season and still win the championship. And I'm not an RV fanboy. I do respect the hell out of him though. And to quote Uncle of RV, that's why they call it a "championship" not a "winnership".

That said, I would love to see JS7 keep riding for 2-3 more years and beat MC's SX win record.

at the end of the day mechanicals and crashes cost reed and dungey titles...whats so hard to understand about that?

Reed was the class of the field outdoors in 2011 until his crash at Millville, you would have to be blind not to see it. Im trying hard not to belittle RV's titles, but RV really has had things go his way. HOw many DNF's has had in the last 4 years?

Theres always next year I guess.

Mikey said it in the last episode of Behind the Dream. RV loves to take on a challenge and consistency is the challenge. That's RV's goal this year. I'd say he's doing a good job at it since he's currently winning the championship..

If RV dnfs one race or even gets a 10th or so, its going to come down to Vegas. RV fans will keep saying hes riding smart, but i know those same RV fans hate watching him lose straight for weeks on end and im sure Villopoto feels the same. JS has been the only guy since monster cup that really has RVs number when its a heads up race. There were no points at Monster Cup.

Im very aware of the saying...

but you make your own luck when a chain de-rails, when you out of fuel, when you have an electrical issue?

Get a grip dude, that saying is relevant 90% of the time, I agree. But you cant control bike issues.

His uncle should have just given his nephew the props he deserves instead of paying a backhanded compliment to Stewart by saying, "Just like
RC4 before him he beats the guys that matter" and then going on to imply that Stewart, Dungey, and some of the others are "what if" riders. I thought both of his posts were highly disrespectful.

It's gets old hearing all this "conservation mode" or "championship mode" bullshit. Even if that's what you think, just leave it out and show some respect to the guy who won.

That's the biggest line of bullshit to ever grace these forums. You don't make your own luck when your bike breaks and it's 100% out of your control.

Reed was the class of the field outdoors in 2011 until his crash at Millville, you would have to be blind not to see it. Im trying hard not to belittle RV's titles, but RV really has had things go his way. HOw many DNF's has had in the last 4 years?

Theres always next year I guess.
Then Reed and Dungey hadn't earned a big enough lead in the points championship to keep the points lead when they crashed or DNF'd and eventually win the championship those years. Many of the top5 guys have ridden incredible this year and in the past few years "at times". All of the riders deal with sickness, crashes, and have mechanical issues. Like RC always says, you win championships on your bad days, not your good days.

My point is very simple. If you do something once, it could very much be luck. But when it happens not 1, 2, 3, but 4 times in a ROW, it ain't luck.

Like I said before. RV could have a DNF next weekend and still finish in 2nd place the rest of the season and still take the championship. He and his team have earned every bit of this. It's the culmination of many factors all coming together.

The only hope for the other riders at this point is a freak season ending injury to RV (knock on wood). And I'm 100% certain that neither RD or JS would want to win the championship from a freak injury happening to RV (if RV were to ride over his head and crash out or do something stupid, then that might be different).

So you're saying that RV doesn't / can't find another gear to use when he needs to?

Let me ask you this.......when has RV " Ever " rode conservatively when he's behind in points? He does this every single year. He hammers the comp the first part of the season ( or however long he feels he needs to )....gets a comfortable lead and lets the race come to him. There is " NO LUCK " in that strategy......it's called being smart......and he's getting paid a bunch of money doing it that way.

Makes me laugh my ass off reading some of these replies in here. Why on earth would RV want to get in a dog fight with James......when it doesn't help the long term goal? What don't people get about that.....when it's so simply put right in front of them?

That's not taking anything away from James at all.....the fucking dude is riding phenomenal right now! Don't know/ care if RV could beat him right now anyways. The good thing is......with this points lead.....he doesn't have to unless he feels he needs to.

I'm a fan of both........but the hard core Stewart fans will be singing a different tune when we get to the outdoors. That green bike is going to be up front a lot for the next 1.5yrs before he sails off into the sunset.

That wasn't trolling at all. Today, in this series, James is pretty much a non factor. Dungey has second in points (although that will not last past the next race) and RV beat who he had to. Just like RC, both of these dudes know how to win titles, plain and simple. That is what they do. Not risking it all to prove a point to internet warriors doesn't make him a pussy, less of a rider or slower than JS7. It makes him smarter than you, smarter than James and ensures he never has to work a day in his life after he hangs up his boots.

Uncleof2 has on more than one post congragulated JS7 on his ride lastnight. probably 3 or 4 post has he said that.

I will say, after last night, JS7 is his biggest threat if he has a bad night. RD is on the slide down.

All im saying is hes one conservative ride and a dnf away from not winning this championship. RV fans sound alot like Dungey fans lately. I thought i liked RV for how he let it hang out and was willing to push it unlike Dungey, but i guess theyre one in the same. And you really think if this roller ball of Stewart wins keeps going until outdoors starts, RV is going to run away with it? Haha okay. RV has 3 wins this year Stewart has 5. Lets see who keeps the confidence.

Have you seen RV`s previous years stats? Most of his wins are after he gets points lead.
These RV fans manages to shit on every racer on a line by saying RV just rides around. Fucking pathetic.

Reed was the class of the field outdoors in 2011 until his crash at Millville, you would have to be blind not to see it. Im trying hard not to belittle RV's titles, but RV really has had things go his way. HOw many DNF's has had in the last 4 years?

Theres always next year I guess.
I cant remember when RV last had a mechanical DNF, or any other factory Kawi 450 had one either, i think thats a credit to his team,

RV has lost a few titles though crashing and injuring himself, he has always taken the time off to repair his body and come back 100%, this is not luck, this is surrounding himself with the right people, and the right team, and making good decisions, you make your own luck at times,

RV said himself he would have liked to win last night, but what was the point of trying to take a win off JS, when you had the ultimate goal in your sites, that everybody started with in January with,

If RV wins, he dominates, and if he loses, he was riding smart. Gotta love the internet boards. Cant give credit where its due.

Wow, RV nut huggers came out to play today. Guess what, RV got beat straight up by James once again, fact. God I wish RV would dnf just so his fans would have no excuse when james would beat him with the points close. A healthy RV is NOT faster than a on point James Stewart no matter which way you try and twist It, sorry. Monster Cup wasn't for no damn points, and you see what happened. Who cracked then under the pressure?

Some of you hate James so much, you just refuse to face facts. In the beginning, you raced to see who was fastest, not who was the most consistent.

Dude , don't get me wrong.....I in no way think RV was riding conservatively last night! He wanted that win and knew james was going just slightly faster , so he settled for 2nd instead of really trying to fight for it. I think James was going to win it either way. But taking a 3pt loss and staying safe......is a smart strategy with the points lead he has. That's all I'm saying.
