If Ciancirulo would have been able to finish the 250 main would he have been disqualified? Did the medics popping his shoulder back in place during the race count as outside assistance?
I know riders have been DQ'd because a mechanic restarted their bike during a moto but how does medical assistance factor in to the outside assistance rule?

I mean didn't he pop one shoulder out in practice, and a different one out during the race? Or was it both the same side?
Is he gonna be good to go or do you gotta fix this stuff?

Doc Bodnar seemed to pop it right back in less than 10 seconds. I have to think he is going to need surgery to keep his shoulder back in, and even at his age and great condition, its probably going to take a while to recover.
but what do I know...
After it happens once if it is not repaired, it comes out and goes back in easier.
I wonder if Adam had a dislocation in the past, because my first and only one made me fall over in pain, I couldn't imagine popping it back in and riding off to re join a race.
Either way hopefully he gets well soon, he has plenty of time to collect championships.
Scary thought either way. Man it takes some BALLS to hit those whoops. I couldn't imagine having to do it knowing your shoulder could pop out at any second....
I hope that he either gets fixed or it is not bad, could start a bad trend for him

The Doctors told me that being a dislocation that went backwards that I was stretched severely and would have many problems with the shoulder for the rest of my life. Within days I began to exercise it the best I could. Just applying resistance up, down and side to side. I also tried to keep it facing forward instead of having my arm resting in front of me. It was very painful for about 8 weeks.
Since then however I have broken that same side clavicle 2x, and landed on my shoulders more times than I could ever count. I tuck and roll when I crash and my shoulders take the brunt of it. Mountain Biking, MX, and roadracing crashes plus working out, swimming etc... I have never had any problems what-so-ever with it. I have full motion and it doesn't come out.
I think that if I had followed the Doctor's advice and left it in that sling that I wouldn't have been so lucky.
My suggestion would be to anyone w/ this injury to begin exercising it within 1-3 days of the dislocation and to be consistent. And to keep it out of a sling.
My son had left one fixed 2010, and again in 2011. Either the first was a bad repair or the labrum tore again. I can say the second time I took my son to a shoulder specialist. I felt better, and he seemed to have a better approach and a serious therapy program. I had the same surgeon repair his right shoulder when it tore in 2013. Yes what a rough patch, but 2012 was great.
The same Dr is fixing my shoulder next month from an AC separation 10 years ago that I never fixed.
I recommend Dr. Richard Jones at Southeastern Sports Medicine
