DeCoster...even though he's my hero...should have no personal opinion or input AT ALL over who is picked or not picked to ride the MXoN. Mitch shouldn't have any input either. If Stewart is doing well, then he should be able to represent if he chooses to. If he's not, or is acting like an idiot for some reason...click him and get somebody else. Same goes with RV, RD or anybody else. It's not the Roger & Mitch show, is it?

I think people are jumping to conclusions way too quickly about Roger. If Stewart is 1st or 2nd in the championship points outdoors on 450’s I would be genuinely surprised if he didn’t get an invite, especially considering how well he is riding this year. Roger seems professional enough to put his opinions about Stewart aside if he is one of the top 2 450 riders outdoors. Did you hear RD's praises of Stewart from Toronto on the Matthes post race interview?

No shit, it's only been 33 years for Decoster
He only brought the first winning team.
Longest win streaks.
Most wins now too I think.
And Decoster should be replaced?
Jesus we need someone with common sense to run the program. If it were left to the dorks here Jlaw would be running it with black plastics.

Ya no shit! I still think its crazy that Decoster is even our team manager over Mitch who is from USA! Do they have team managers in the Olympics that are from different countries? Decoster rode for Belgium for the Des Nations and just cause he has lived in the USA then its ok? I still don't think that is right even if he is the man and what he's done for the sport here. Mitch was born here and deserves to be our team manager plain and simple. I think that's a slap in the face to Mitch and very disrespectful considering who many championships his teams have won. I'd like to see the numbers Mitch vs. Roger as team managers.

So let me get this right,,,, if James wins the National title and wants to represent USA for maybe the last time in his career, Decoster (who is from Belgium) won't pick him cause he doesn't like him? That's fucked up in my opinion. James has matured into a different person that is humble, respectful, and totally different than 5 or more years ago. Even if he doesn't win the outdoor title, he deserves to represent his country, if he wants to.

James has won me over these last couple years and I cheer for him at every race. I think he has made a lot of new fans with his new attitude and respect for how lucky he is to be in his position. Who knows, he might want to do it to give back to the fans in USA and whoop some Euro ass! A team of RV, JS and Baggett would be pretty hard to beat. Even if it was James as the leader, Dungey in open and whoever wins the 250 title, would be a great team.
Oh dear ... I just cannot grasp how stupid this post is ...

Does Ryan Villipoto have a team manager? If he does, he's won just as many or more championships than Roger and Mitch in the past 5 years.

Great post, I couldn't agree more. I went from loving James in 02-04, to becoming indifferent, to hating him from 08-11. He was a cocky bastard for a while. Since then he has grown up, became one of the older guys, and wrote off by many in the sport. So I now pull for him again. When he is on, there is no better rider to watch in the sport.

Mitch is always highly involved in the team. I do no think he cares that Decoster is the manager.
Mike Brown might disagree with you.

How is the post stupid? He is saying an American should represent the Americans, and also said that the idea that "Decoster would not invite James, no matter how fast he is during the outdoors" is stupid.

Just what about that makes so little sense? You may disagree about the American representation part, but that still does not make it "stupid".

Probably about the time some people realize that my amazement is over the fact someone would think that he being from Belgium and the likely inference of that and not that I'm amazed he's from Belgium.

And of course Decoster has lived in the US longer that many Vitards have been alive but somehow some people "think" only a born in 'Merica team manager makes sense………

Boggles the mind…….

We need James, RV, and Tomac on the 250. That would be my choice, but I know Dungey and a PC guy have to go.

Good grief. There's so much fail in this thread.
Guy, it's time to lock this thread. Everyone that reads it looses a few IQ points and many of the folks around here simply don't have any to spare.

DeCoster is a US citizen. Therefore, he's American. Personally, I like the guy who gives us the best chance to win. So far, the only argument I've seen against DeCoster is where he was born, which is about as irrelevant as it gets. DeCoster has decades proving he can help riders win championships, whether it's at Suzuki, KTM, or for the US MXDN team.

DeCoster has managed MXDN teams with Stewart on them, so it isn't proven he's biased against Stewart.

O'Neal's post was illogical. Yours just made it stupid. I like the teamwork you put together there.

Never said DeCoster should be replaced. Just that, from things I've read here and other places...he doesn't particularly like James Stewart or the Stewarts period, and that's been his reason for not picking James to ride the MXoN. I was trying (unsuccessfully) to suggest that maybe someone that could be a bit more objective might choose the team.

Say whatever you want with insults and pathetic low blows. Steve (GuyB aka, Max Negative), I expected a negative, sarcastic response from you cause that's what you do. Does it make you feel good to try to sarcastically belittle people cause it's amazing how much you do it in one day, towards the people on this site. It's sad you have to do that, but that's your problem.

I think the team should be made up of riders and team managers from whatever country they are born in. But that is my opinion and if you disagree, then so be it. I did not know the Olympics team managers had people from other countries. My Bad! lol

I know Mitch is fine with Decoster being the manager and so is everyone else. I like Roger just as much as anyone else and know what he has done for the sport and I respect that. I also know that he doesn't choose the team and the AMA has the final word. I just think Mitch deserves the title because of his accomplishments and because he is from USA.

But, now I have to go and work on my rocket and don't have time to defend my stupid opinion. Woohoo

Agreed.

I think the best team possible would be RV, Bubba, and Dungey.

Bagget? Too inconsistent.
Barcia? Let's see if he gets the bike sorted out by then.
AC? I'd say if he's healthy, he should be the favorite to replace any of those 3
Tomac? If he's healthy and agreeing with the bike, certainly.

And here's a name nobody will suggest, but Brayton is damn consistent and would relish the opportunity.

Alessi? I'd love to see it but then again, the race is going to be in Russia and things are already tense over there between the USA and Russia. Considering past history it is likely that if we send Mike, WW3 will erupt.

What does a mx des nations coach actually do? Pretty sure RC4 would be my pick, my riders would be RV2 (safe bet for a win) JS7 (politics aside he deserves to go) AC (great experience for a future champ)

Man I wish we had that much talent, all we are sending at the moment is Levi Sherwood, Courtney Duncan and Paul Whibley

I do find it kind of odd how guyb always is complaining about post that don't add anything good to the site but that's exactly what he does most the time. I guess because it's his site, his show, he can do as he pleases.

But really, it doesn't look good to belittle the people that join your site just because you disagree. Not all of us are inside every weekend and our lives don't revolve around sx/mx. If you don't like someone or me then just ban them but being the top dog here probably requires a little thicker skin to tolerate armchair mx/sx posters. But it's your show so carry on.

Man I wish we had that much talent, all we are sending at the moment is Levi Sherwood, Courtney Duncan and Paul Whibley

How is the post stupid? He is saying an American should represent the Americans, and also said that the idea that "Decoster would not invite James, no matter how fast he is during the outdoors" is stupid.

Just what about that makes so little sense? You may disagree about the American representation part, but that still does not make it "stupid".

He is just trying to insult me and anyway he can. It's nothing new and same old childish response from him. I'm used to it and haven't you noticed he constantly belittles people on here with sarcastic negative insults? I'm just the only one who ever says anything, so anything I post he will respond the same way.

Maybe I should just go the Matthes route and say, "Oh my."

Which I translate as, "How stupid can you get?"

Reading my post over, I agree it doesn't say what I wanted...but I don't have time to correct it.

At least we're both consistent.
