After seeing that courageous effort he put in it '!s hard not to admire this guy. I'm a huge JS fan and the ride James put in was unbelievable but the ride that RV put in was just as amazing in my eyes. Massive respect RV you definitely showed tonight why you have 3 SX titles to your name and probably 4 at seasons end.

Championships are won on your bad days. Amazing ride.

Does anyone know if he got to ride the track on press day or was he sick then too? If not, this performance is that much more impressive.

whatever, the real reason he had the runs is cause he was afraid of Stewart.

RV has always been praised for having a fantastic crew / team looking after all his needs, Trainer, misses knows what is necessary etc etc. So with the big picture Championship on the line why would they change anything and was he the only one sick in the crew as the Trainer seemed full of beans and happy, just seems like someone fucked up big time.

Just remember a vid or whatever showing how all his meals etc are all prepared for him, or did he scratch his bum or pick his nose. Just seems strange especially how they pride themselves on such quality training and life. Would be a good doctors report to read regarding blood tests etc he has had to find out what is wrong. Maybe the Misses is taking too much out of him. He done good.

Yep, except "wants it more than anyone". That's an impossible claim to make. But, RV clearly showed tonight why he is the 3 time champ & probably 4th. The guy minimizes mistakes.

Yep. No practice, straight from the hospital, practice in the heat, qualify in the semi, 6th in the main. Pretty damn impressive. If you can't see that, think about doing that yourself.

Remember when that was why stewart got bad starts in 2012? Laughing But going in to the main, I had no doubt that RV would get inside the top 10.

I only saw the main event on youtube and heard that everyone was impressed with RVs ride, but they never said what it was? I didn't caught that atleast. So what was up with RV?

Reportedly had severe stomach issues prior to practice, perhaps food poisoning a la Josh Grant. Went to hospital, where IV's were administered. Missed all practices, but raced anyway due to loophole. Soldiered on for 6th overall.

I watched him slowly get the track dialed in the best he could in the heats.I figured he would purposely want to go into the semi for more track time. Where you noticed it most was that rhythm section Js had dialed in, RV started out doubling everything and everyone went past him, but by the end of the main he was tripling through and being more aggressive. I just couldn't imagine racing at the highest level and going out there pretty much blind and racing it.

Comes back from season ending, leg-shattering injury to WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Comes back from season ending knee injury to WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Rides through food poisoning that put an end to Josh Grant's night to stay in the hunt.

Tough mofo.

I'm pretty sure I'll take a win from the back of the pack over a 6th....even if I was sick

Amazing night by both RV and JS. Very impressive on both accounts. That track was incredibly technical and James' ride compared to everyone else shows why he is such a special talent. By the same token, the fact that RV did what he did without every riding the track prior to racing is equally impressive - but in different ways.

As for RV getting food poisoning, I was wondering if it was sushi or something. I seem to recall Brayton having a bout with food poisoning early in the season due to sushi (who also rode while being sick IIRC - just not nearly as good as RV did). I learned a very tough lesson once while in China on business. If you go out to dinner for some "questionable food", better have a nice after dinner drink that is stiff on alcohol - it kills the bacteria you just may have ate. Myself and a co-worker got sick, a third did not (he was the one having a couple of scotches after dinner, when the other two of us didn't).
