Dragoon Creek is in Lyndon, KS. I think it is about an hour away. It was pretty neat from what I remember, but it has been well over 10 years since I have lived in Kansas.

About an hour away from Manhattan, 20 miles south of Topeka on hwy 75, immediate right turn after you pass over Dragoon Creek. They had their first race yesterday and they usually have open practice Wednesdays and non-race day Sundays weather permitting.

If your into some good trails and some crazy hill climbs check out Milford lake riding area. Free to ride tons of trails. I live in Wichita and go up there a few times a year. Make sure to come race at jeeps cycle club in Wichita. They have a sx, 2 mx tracks, flat track and gp track. Prairie harbor in Salina is good riding too

I left Kansas two years after High School in '97, and have only been back a handful of times since. BUT, back in the day there was:

-Wamego (N.E.K.)
-Chapman (Race Place II)
-Great Bend
-Jeeps in Wichita
-Carbondale
-Marysville
-Hillsboro
-Hutchinson (Prairie Pups)
-Marion (Hidden Acres)

Denny Stephenson, Jeff Emig, Robbie Skaggs, The Hedden Brothers, Brian Deegan and myself grew up racing at most of those places.

I know of the Dragoon Creek track now, and that's about it. Best bet is to put the cruise control on and hit the better tracks in Missouri and Oklahoma.

You're in a decent part of the state with SOME elevation to knock down the blinding goddamn wind. Can def find some females in Aggieville. Unfortunately, the only thing I miss about Kansas is watching Jayhawk games at Allen Field House, and a small Chinese restaurant in my hometown of Emporia called "House of Ma."

Come out this weekend for the FMHSC race at Milford Lake. It's a 2hr Hare Scramble if you are interested in some woods riding.

Hillsboro is closed. Green acres is in Marion. Good people the hardee family run that track. Bar 2 bar in Wichita is very popular with awesome sandy dirt and holding a lorettas qualifier this year.

One used to be able to ride at the Spillway on the SE side of the Tuttle Creek Dam. Don't know if that is still an option. For training, some of the best bicycling roads anywhere are the Flint Hills around Manhattan. If you need some training miles you are in the middle of it. Ask Dave at the Pathfinder (tell him Don sent you) for some good routes.

I lived in Manhattan a number of years. It is a favorite.

Did they open Cooperland back up? I thought the last guy that bought it at auction was just interested in the land only....as he had already bought up all the other land that used to have the Cooperland trails....

huck, Cooperland is gone for real estate now I believe but Guy fixed the moto track at the 500 riding area. Back to steel roots quality from back in the day. Trwright like was stated above the really good tracks are in Oklahoma but there is alot of good racing in the Central Kansas Motox series. Inman in between Hutch and Mcpherson is a decent track too, Very clean place in a public park.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I heard about the last auction before it was too late...I think they bought the track, buildings, and some equipment (water pumps, gate, and such) for a little over $100,000.

I've always loved the 500 club. Been riding there since 1997 I think (never could land with a wheelie on the uphill triple like MC)... heck, I remember when some kid on a 80 was tearing up one of the tracks. He was riding with another kid that turned out to be Guy's nephew.... Travis and Kenny.

Huck, There are many good stories about Kenny and Travis in stillwater. Subarus and Red bull girls come to mind. lol

Man would I ever love for Cooperland to come back. That was by far my favorite. However I do agree with the pizza shuttle comment.

The guy that owns it is the cycle city promotions arena cross series owner.

trwright3, I live in Wichita and locally Bar2Bar is about the best track in Kansas to ride. I love Marion (Green Acres) and Inman isn't to bad as mgif said. But if you really want a good place to ride make a trip to Oklahoma and hit up moto city or reynards. There is also sweet 16 in Muskogee Oklahoma that's supposed to be one of the best. I have also heard of a track over in Missouri near the Kansas Missouri border just south of KC. If I find out the name I'll let you know.

The guy who owns the cycle city promotions isn't the owner. His brother owns it, and unless if can be rezoned it won't be made into a motocross track again because of liability.
