Just for the record, the new JS7 is growing on me, and I hope to see him and RV1 battle it out at one of the remaining races.
That being said, if its for 1st and 2nd I don't think RV1 will take any chances unless its at Vegas and he has already clinched.
I remember the 09 season like is was yesterday and watching JS7 and CR22 go at it and then at Vegas RV was on it and
James decided to let the kid go, may of been the best and worst decision he made that year. Go RV1Woohoo

Why... the... F*^K, do you guys even respond to rcm406?

Everything out of his head is: "IMO" this, and "I think" that, followed by a bunch of hypothetical bullshit. With NONE of it relevant or possibly true.

Normally I would say he's the ignorant one but seriously... you guys are! Just stop feeding into his crap and posting replies.

Here's what we KNOW about RV. This is not what we think, or what our opinions are:

He's the most Dominant rider since RC retired.

He's the most winningest rider since RC retired.

His biggest assets is... he HAULS ASS on a dirt bike. And can climb out of huge points deficits to kick your ass!!!

If you line up to win a title and RV is on the line, that's who you consider to be your toughest competitor.

Listing ALL of his Championships/Titles(SX, MX, MXdN and MEC), he surpasses EVERYONE who is still racing today!

He is a beast, coming back from a horrific injury only to CONTINUE, right where he left off. Winning.

He's lined up with "the most stacked field ever" more than once, and has come away victorious several times.

If one can't see and appreciate all that well, you need your head examined. It's not by chance or luck that all those things listed have come true for RV. It's his life dedication to his profession, his job, and... being one of the baddest mofo's to ever throw a leg over. END of story!

Again, this isn't "in my opinion", it's not what "I think", it's the TRUTH. And damn impressive by any rational thinking person. So please, quit wasting your time replying with someone who will only try to degrade a rider who is putting forth what any fan of the sport would call an amazing career. Maybe ending in being considered the second greatest rider of all time!

Everyone just chill out. I afraid that this thread would get turned in a pissing contest. I think just about everyone on here missed the jist of my original post. It's not who the better, faster, most title holding rider ever was. It's just that like in 1996, I'm getting a little bit bored of a multi time champ winning yet another championship. Now, don't misinterpret what I'm saying, RV is a bad ass dude, and he's not even my favorite rider. What he is doing HAS to be respected. Someone else needs to step up to the plate and dethrone him. It just seems, like with McGrath, by midseason, it's over. (O.K., it's not over, but come on man, it's over) and I just like seeing a good fight for the title more so than a runaway season. I know, he's only won three races this season, and while that's not total domination (face it, just about every rider has suffered a DNF or some BS) RV is in it to win it, and I'm dying for someone to make a fight out of it. That's all this thread was about. Even if RV was my favorite rider in the sport ever, I would want to see him have to fight tooth and nail for the title and not have such a huge points lead by mid season.

i will agree he was much more dominant last year (in race wins), but because of the huge points deficit last year he wasn't as comfortably in the lead as he is now. to watch him absolutely destroy everyone at Daytona WITH a 23 point lead already established just shows he isn't backing this thing in and switching to championship mode.

the competition has been tougher than ever this year, more winners than in the past, RV only has 3 wins and he already has a 28 point lead. pretty impressive if you ask me.

ah so we get to the bottom of it.

JS7 injured ACL. but if i remember correctly, James finished the year out and even nailed down a win.

Reed not in shape does not equal injury.

what about everyone else? you did say "all the top guys were injured"
Reed did have knee surgery midway through sx last year. That's why he was out of shape.

I understood your original post, but after 28 years or so it rarely happens that way. Guess I'm used to it. It's definitely more exciting to see riders "fight tooth and nail for the title" but it's so hard to come by.

Personally, I don't really care for comparisons of riders from different eras. I think they're both greats of the sport and that's all that matters. I think MC was better than his competition than RV is to his and MC had very little problems with injuries. He would've won 8 championships in a row had he not chose to get on a turd in 97. Impossible in today's SX.

It seems a lot harder to stay healthy these days but honestly RV has been lucky even though he hasn't escaped injury. In 2010 he shattered his leg early enough in the year that he was able to return for SX the next year. He tore his ACL in SX in 2012 after he had clinched because all of the competition had missed races due to injury and last year Dungey was really the only one of his competition that didn't have some injury during the year.

Some of these injuries happened because they were needing to race outside their comfort zone in order to beat RV. Anyway these comparisons are useless.

I feel sorry for nitwits who put all their hopes and dreams onto just one rider......because the reality is.....you miss out on the sport as a whole. Keep having Stewart bruise your tonsils buddy......you're coming off as a real genius! haha!

Wow, you guys are angry!Angry All I do is state my opinion and that's it! I feel like I'm on the elementary school playground and we got a couple of bullies resorting to name calling. I guess you're so witless that that's all you can come up with. Like Dan said, just don't respond.
