podmx maybe? Anyone got these?
Knee braces take some time to get used to since they do take away some of the feel of the bike. After getting used to them though, if you were ever to ride without them it would feel weird to feel the bike. It's a matter of what you become used to. It can take some time to get your braces dialed in to the point where they feel comfortable. This is true even of custom braces like the CTi's. You'll play with the condyle pads to adjust tension on your knee and the straps. If you use an off the shelf brace, you'll take even some more time to get it dialed in since you have more adjustments.
Some braces won't offer much in the way of ligament protection. It has to do with how the brace is designed. A knee brace functions by taking an impact or motion and transferring it to another part of the body (femur, hip, ankle, etc.). By properly securing above the joint, the joint itself and below the joint you can limit rotational damage to your knee.
Do some research since not all knee braces are created equal, nor are the created for the same purpose.

The price is completely justifiable compared to what I might have spent in medical bills and knee problems my entire life.
I would suggest any one looking at getting a set of braces to talk with a sports orthopedist to get properly fitted with a set of braces. A brace that is too small will be uncomfortable and cause you pain. While one that is too loose is practically useless in terms of support.
I like how the Asterisks have the boot strap to limit the twisting of the knee. The CTIs have a ski strap which is similar but not really meant for moto. I am thinking of ordering one to see if I can make some adjustments to it to fit with my boots.
I had to get my doctor to sign off on mine which for me was pretty easy but it may prove to be a sticking point for some folks. If thats the case, I would go with some PODs or get the cheaper Asterisk braces which I have heard good things about.
Knee braces are a hell of a lot better than knee/shin guards IMO
The Asterisk Cell has been my choice for the last 10 years. They have saved my knees more than once, i will never ride a dirt bike without them.
