Wow, just wow. I just read this. What was this guy thinking?! You would think that years of law enforcement would have taught this guy some self control. Terrible.

Hopefully this guy doesn't get a slap on the wrist because of his background. Truly heartbreaking story.

He was probably thinking like an officer, above the law. Such an unfortunate event though. What a horrible thing to happen to a good guy. Prayers sent to his family, especially his little one. Ride In Peace Chad Oulsen.

Unbelievable! that was real good judgement there. Too many Kooks out there running around with Guns. Sad to think of this precious little girl growing up without her Father, because some Idiot didn't like Popcorn thrown at him and decided to shoot and kill in retaliation

And the majority of them are cops.

The Offspring had a song, I know, not poetic, but it went to the tune of: "One guy's wasted and the other's a waste..." A father is dead, and another father will spend the rest of his already nearly over life behind bars, and will be drained financially by the court systems.

In this case DC, "Stand your ground" means nothing, nor will gun owners be responsible, a retired LEO can carry a firearm anywhere an active policeman can because of federal law...which means everywhere.

RIP racer, may your daughter know the best of him is left behind in you.

This thread ruined my evening. Sad

Can't imagine anything that happened at the movies would be worth killing a man over. Hopefully all the facts come out and if he's guilty, he is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I agree but doubt we will know all the facts. Condolences to the family.

Have been following this story.

A few weeks back I had an incident with a fellow movie goer. He was in the bottom row texting on his big ass Galaxy notepad without a care in the world for 10+ min while the rest of us paying patrons sitting in the 20 rows behind him get to see a blaring bright screen in our faces.

I loudly said, "Excuse me sir, we all appreciate you showing us your posts on Twitter, but would you please put that damn phone in your pocket now" followed by crowd applause. He quickly shut his phone off without futher incident.

Never once did the thought of killing the guy cross my mind, but couldn't let the complete lack of courtesy to the rest of the theater just fly.

Maybe this wasn't the right time to share this story, but my point is no matter how much someone pisses you off, unless they are physically putting you or your family in harms way any type of excessive force is unjust.

With this said, I wish this moto brother and his family my sincere condolences.

Seen this on the news tonight, News stated there was a yelling match followed by a scuffle in which popcorn and other items were thrown. The wife through her hands up to try and protect her husband and he shot through her hand. This all happened BEFORE the fucking movie even started.
The officer was in court today and had a full court room of folks he knew trying to get him out on bail. The judge didn't set a bail.

We will be hearing a lot more on this

My condolences to the Family

Man what a sad friggin' story! RIP Chad and my condolences go out to his wife and little girl. I can't believe someone loses their life over texting a message. The sad truth is , there are people killed on this planet everyday for things even smaller than that. What a tragedy.

Thanks ZIPPY, for the photo, it makes it more personal. What a shame, Florida seems to have alot of people with CWC permits, that seem to think a gun is the solution to everything. And as far as the guy being an ex-cop, it happens more often than you think. I have a neighbor that is an ex-cop from Texas whose has pulled a gun on me in my own driveway. Sad, and now his little girl has no father, and his wife has no Husband.

The shooter was hit by an unknown object.....

Like the Judge stated: "An unknown object does not equal taking out a gun and firing it at someone's chest."

That guy should be put to death.

Another thing to learn form this:

When someone starts talking shit to you in public, the best thing you can do is apologize and attempt to leave. It's yo-yo's like this guy is the reason I carry a gun everywhere I go. This is a ridiculous loss of life at the hands of an incompetent citizen.

The dude was a rude asshole! He continued texting after being asked not to. The old guy goes for the manager, but the manager was busy with something else. when he comes back, the guy gives him shit for going to report him to management. He what? Wants to fight a 71 year old man? Throws popcorn on the old dude to provoke him while his wife is putting her hand on his chest to calm him down, hold him back? from the old man. He ( Mr. text) was the aggressor. (Per witnesses). Had he done the right thing, apologized and stopped texting in front of people in a movie theater. I would bet he would be alive today.

No way am I defending the action of the shooter. No way does this guy deserve to be shot. But his actions caused the reaction!

So I should just STFU, Because he loved motocross and posted here once ? no discussions allowed, (other than him being a poor victim of a crazy dude with a gun)?

Sorry I gave a different prospective.

I didn't say you had to, I said some people don't know when to. Big difference.

After years of research here, I can say with authority that people who like to argue, like to argue.

I think you're assuming a LOT of things there buddy. And it's certainly not nice to call a guy who was just murdered a rude asshole. Not unless you know for sure that all your accusations are 100% correct which I highly doubt. The stories on CNN and the detectives report that no witnesses have said anything about the victim trying to fight the old man. They said he was texting a message for his little daughter during the PREVIEWS when this all happened. I don't know exactly what happened because I wasn't there, and I'm assuming you weren't either? So why don't you try to lighten up a little bit and let the guy rest in peace, rather than slamming him online for some actions you think he might have committed.

Imagine what the old hag would have done if his gun didn't jam? How many other people would have been shot if he continued firing?

This is sad.

"It's yo-yo's like this guy is the reason I carry a gun everywhere I go"

Can americans really not see the problem here? Maybe if the "yo-yo's" didn't all carry guns in the first place then the rest of you wouldn't feel the need to carry guns too. When you feel the need to carry a gun with you everywhere you go out of fear that everyone else is carrying a gun, something is VERY wrong. I hate to turn this into an anti-gun arguement but how many unnecessary losses of life like this is it going to take?

It's such a sad loss. My housemate was telling me about his death earlier and then I came on here to discover he was a racer and fellow vital poster. RIP

So messed up. I remember someone getting shot and killled down the road at renton cinemas back in 99 or so. Seems like such a shitty place to bring your beef.

Funny someone making comments about a guy they don't know or have met. Chad rode with a bunch of other vet guys who got together and rode different tracks around Central Florida. These are a great bunch of guys who have always came up to Jake and complimented him on his riding. I can't say (or remember) having conversation with Chad but knowing the group he rode with I'd say he was like anyone of them.

The movie hadn't started yet and the asshole didn't leave to get a manager he went and got a gun out of his car. That is my assumption but I'd bet a paycheck video will show him going out to his vehicle to get it.
