Was good to see Stew hard on it. Was just telling the girlfriend that he had a habit of crashing, but that he wouldn't 'cause he was in the hunt....and then he went down. Sheeit. But, I expect to see him up front a lot this year. He's looking very fast. Was fun watching him beat up on Villo during the US Open. Hopefully next race both he and Villo start near each other. Would be cool to see them dice it out. K-Roc really held it together that race. Amazed the heck out of me. Hoping everyone stays healthy. Gonna be a fun year if so!

If we had a better points sytem....James would have a chance.

Under the F1 points system...

P1=25
P2=18
P10 = 1

Good system.

Supercross points system under rewards wins to keep the points close till the end. NASCAR does the same. They do it for the same reason...to manipulate the points chase to keep up interest till the end. Does anyone really feel that winning is only 13% better than finishing 2nd. It is a joke. Frankly...I admire someone who wants to win so bad that they wont play it safe. They get shafted because the promoter is out to maximize profits. It's all about the $...

Yeah, if he had backed it down and decided to take 2nd or wait a few laps to pass Roczen he would have shown he has finally wised up about how to be a SMART racer, but once again he went all James and crashed 5 laps early and couldnt/didnt finish.

Im with ya P, I wanted James to win, but the difference between you and me is Im a realist and I know its already over for James. Trust me, he will have AT LEAST one more this year and then he will definitely be out of it.

I feel so fortunate that I've been able to watch Bubba race live and in person. The dude is such a legend with amazing talent. I don't care about his stats as much as just watching what he does on the track when he's in his groove.
When he retires everybody will miss him- the entire sport will be different without him.

I really don't follow other major sports, so I can't equate Bubba's talent with other disciplines.
The only thing I can compare it to in my lifetime are the epic battles between Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi that I was able to witness during the vert skating heyday in the late 80's.

Did you just start watching SX this year? Stewart came back in 2009 25 points down before mid-season against Reed and your boy RV. Then had to come back from 12 points down after Daytona and still won the Championship. 2007 JS beat everyone! RC (when he raced - Orlando was EPIC!), CR, and the other 18 guys on the track. Ferry was his teammate in 2007. Where do you guys come from. Your SX/MX IQ is below average. Try again!

James in real life especially back in his 125 days against a field of 4 brokes was a sight to see and hear.

He took mx and SX to a completely different level of controlled crazy. Still is.....

I think its just dumb to make any predictions on who will take the title after only one race in. We'll see after 3 or 4 rounds who will be the new top 3 contenders. no such thing as consistency for any rider as of yet.

Think about it. What would happen to the title chase if they ran an F1 points system. The championship would be decided 3,4,5 races before season end.... F1 is really the only series that even tries to stick to a realistic scoring system that truly rewards wins. They can do it, because they are the "pinacle of motorsport"....and thus have no problem drawing fans and huge tv viewership. Pretty much every other motorsport series in the world waters down the value of wins...and they do it to drag out the title chase as long as possible. You can come up with all sorts of reasons why...but in the end it comes down do money.

I would love to see James win it all, but there is a definite pattern with him the last 3 or 4 years that speaks for itself. He's already virtually out of the championships points after just one race and will need a lot of bad luck by the other top riders to make it back up. He could make it up with a string of wins or podiums but do you honestly think he's going to last the entire season without another huge crash given his recent history? It would be great for the sport if he can come back and win it all because he still brings more attention to the sport than any other rider out there, but the odds are not good.

If you go back and watch 2012....you will be amazed at how out of control James looked. Then watch MEC, A1, Atlanta, Dallas. He looks like a different rider on the RMZ. Yeah he is still JS...but to compare him now to 2012 is a mistake. James was clearly riding over his head on a bike that did not work for him back then. It was a train wreck.

What was violent about it? Seriously. Go watch it is slow mo. He fell onto smooth dirt...from 4' in the air...and he tucked and tumbled. Basic physics. Yeah it was FAST and scary as hell. But violent? The hardest hit he took was probably while he was still on the bike.

It is the sudden decelerations that are violent. Dean Wilson last year. Everyone was skeptical that he was hurt so bad. I was not. That crash was dirty because he slammed into that face and just stopped dead. THAT is what hurts you BAD. Stewart did not stop fast.... Now...if he had take that fall 3 whoops earlier...and come down at speed in the whoops...that could have been devastating. As it was...the crash was not a big hit.

Stewart looked as good as he has in a long time. He was really on it. And yet he still crashed and didn't finish the race.

They say titles are won on your bad days. Well, Stewart can lose a title on his good days. He'll get wins, but he's a huge outsider for the title given his history of crashes and injuries.

I predicted that JS could be an contender when he will not crash.After A1 i am confused ,i think it was not the last time.Of all the top guys he has the best speed ,he should try to stay on the bike and stay focused to not crash.

I hope James does well the rest of the season, but the title seems unlikely. No matter what, when he is up front going for the win it is exciting.

The scary part for Stewart and his superfans should be that he was riding great and looked smooth and still ended up on his head. That is when you start wondering what the hell is wrong when he can't keep it on two wheels on a good night.
