They were da shit. Alot of good riders started off their careers on them. I finally got race them in AHRMA races in the 90's. Chris Carter, the owner of Motion Pro, let me use one of his 250 CZ's. Even in the age of new bikes, it was still a blast to ride one of those. Bobby remember Henry Halbach, looked like a football linebacker, he always had some nice CZ"s. A friend of mine rode a 125 CZ, now that was a piece of crap.

halback was a great friend...was gonna ride the nats with him in 77 then i ran over him and broke his back remember? at sandhill....went down right in front of me. damn...felt bad. he couldn't go on the nats so my dad got my aunt to let my cousin kiki go and the rest is history...2 16 year old kids on the nats by themselves....lol

Metallurgy being what it was in those days CZ used two small exhaust ports rather than one large, hence the dual pipes. Joel Robert won his first 250 title on a twin-piper. The twin pipe open bikes made some noise (literally) in the 500 class but their first win in 1966 came with a single port model they'd developed since 1964 in ISDT competition.

Here's one you won't often see. A 1976 four-stroker:

Hell yes!! I rode that 360 at China Camp. Roosted the hills. There was 1 powerline climb that was rutted with rain gullies about 200 yards high, whole bunch of guys sitting at the bottom just looking up. That CZ walked it like nothing. Just got back from my restorer friends place. He has 2 360's & 2 250 twin pipers. The 360's are worth $10k now.

Please excuse the quality of the pics. All I had back then was a 110 Instamatic. This Is my buddy Terry's 360. I think it was a "71". The one with him jumping is vintage Terry. No helmet and a tank top. When he raced he wore a battered old gold metal flake job he bought at Wards, but he could kick ass back in the day.

That's how I had the rear suspension set up on my '73 400, except I used Bilstein shocks. Worked really well, I thought.

And , ditto on the Barums. Meztlers (sp?) worked best in our area back then.
