Ok, I've heard of 2 MX related deaths in the past couple days, one I heard, is that in Moberly, MO in the past couple weeks, for some reason a lady and her husband were walking on the track during track prep, and the wife got backed over by the disc.

And just saw a myspace bulletin for someone that supposedly died at Redbud in the past couple days? Has anyone else heard anything?

Man can you imagine how horrible the man driving the tractor must feel. That is just horrible and I bet it happened to the nicest guy in the world cause a-holes never get run over for some reason.

Yes it was true... and the guy driving the bobcat is an awesome person. Steve is a great guy and he could barely keep his wits about him the next day during the races. He has canceled his next race also. I just can't figure out how something so strange really could happen.

That happened in MN a couple years ago. A racer was riding on the track and he hit the tractor that was on the track grooming. It was during a practice day.

The guy that died at Red Bud got landed on. From what I was told, he crashed. And another bike landed on his head/neck. I will see if I can find the email and post more details. He was 29 years old. But I cant remember the name.

Matt Thompson
1979 - 2008

Matt Thompson of Argos, Indiana suffered what proved to be a fatal neck injury while riding at RedBud on Labor Day, September 1. Matt passed away Tuesday evening at Memorial Hospital in South Bend; he was 29 years old.

Matt was a long time motocross rider enjoying a day at the track with his son and riding buddies. Matt's son Riley was especially excited to be riding the 50 track since he had just gotten rid of his training wheels the week before, and Matt was looking forward to putting in some laps on his new 450.

By all accounts, Matt lived life to the fullest, and his family and friends say he died doing what he loved - riding his motorcycle. He leaves behind his mom - Patty Thompson, his 4-year-old son - Riley Sears, Riley's mom - Kristy Sears, and a very large group of friends and family members. He will be tremendously missed.

The Riley Sears Trust Fund has been established at First Source bank in Argos. You can make contributions to the trust fund anytime at RedBud, or you can send directly to:
The Riley Sears Trust Fund
c/o First Source Bank
518 N. Michigan St.
Argos, Indiana 46501

Visitation will be held at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home (208 N. Michigan St.) in Argos this Saturday, September 6, from 10am until 4pm. Graveside service immediately following visitation.

Please continue to keep Matt's family and friends in your prayers.

Thoughts and prayers to all including Matt's family from the other incident. Too much bad news.

Deleted most of that, didn't feel right.

Yes, I know Steve. He raced my track before he built his own. That is why I was looking for facts. Such a bad situation, all around.

I was forever yelling and waving my arms, like a crazy man, for people to stay clear while I was operating equipment on the track. I don't worry any more.

Thanks, guys.
