Hammertime, glad you liked it. It was a pretty powerful conversation.

We spoke for nearly an hour and a half, and I completely ran out of room for any more text. We probably could have talked for another hour, he was that deep and clear with his discussions.

For the record, Micky is one very cool, very introspective and deep dude. He is still pushing himself to max, but seemed very well grounded and very clear on what was realistic and what was not.

His style and cool colors from the 1980's match his personality of today - the guy still has it, and is going for other, new challenges in his life. We should all be that strong!

Unfortunately my only lasting memory of Micky Dymond is of him casing that massive sand dune in the film Organ Donors.

That's a great interview. He says some interesting things. It will be fun following him in his bike race.

I live in Annapolis, where the race ends. Might have to just go track him down to congratulate him!
He was one of the coolest stars of 80s motocross, and there was a time when he was so dominant.

I saw where he's going to be like 50 this month. I was hoping he was a lot younger than me.

Great interview! When I was a kid I was a big Micky Dymond fan especially during those two years on the factory Honda. Luck would have it I've had the pleasure of getting to know Mick through All Access Staging and Production. Erik the owner of All Access is one of my closest friends. I was there with the team for the 05 Championship. It was the Reno round where they closed off downtown, it was called the Red Bull Super Moto A Go Go, Absolutely one of the coolest motorcycle races I've ever been to. (I also got to meet Mr Marc Peters there(Sondy's Brother) who is super cool Smile Mick won that race over Daryl Atkins, the championship literally came down to the last turn of the last lap of the series. Daryl was leading and Mick was right there I think Micky had some problems earlier in the race and it took him a bit to get to the front. Also Micks ankle was literally shot! At breakfast that morning of the race he could barely walk, it was all swollen and taped up(It was either badly sprained or broken) but he was not shaken even a little. He was focused and ready to do battle. The dude is a soft spoken bad ass! We were all right there watching just before the finish line, we thought it was done then the next thing we know Daryl leaves a slight opening going into the last corner just feet before the finish line and Micky f-ing runs it in hard(and I mean HARD)! Smile Atkins ended up on his ear and Micky took the championship! Needless to say Daryl was absolutely gutted but Micky did what he had to do to win that championship and he got the job done! The guy has that eye of the tiger champion mentality for sure! Mick is also a very nice person too, when I was injured at Elsinore back in 07 I ended up stuck in riverside Med center for 15 days Micky came in to visit me and he actually smuggled me out of the hospital for bit because I was so sick of being bed riddenSmile He helped me get in the wheelchair and off we went. We sat outside and shared stories about life, family racing and of course injuries. Micky Dymond has some crazy stories about being injured in foreign countries where no one spoke English, he made me feel much better about my situation of being stuck in Moreno Valley Smile If you ever get the chance to chat with Micky Dymond do it! He is a super cool person and racing legend to boot!
