If you took Alive/Reflex's control/rider reflex/physics and sound and combined it with everything else that MUD did you would have a brilliant MX game. I just hope they get another chance and do make it more realistic. Not full on sim but a good mix of sim and arcade like a 2K title.
But we do agree on this. It is an excellent starting point. A full FIM license. We haven't seen a fully licensed MX game since Supercross 2000 or Supercross Circuit. They realized that a full points series (which is something the fans asked THQ for for years) is vital. They have all the real bikes, gear, riders and the AI is very smart and good and the upper echelon riders usually race as they should instead of the randomness all other MX games have. It is a good start. It needs a lot of work but the game needs support so we can see the franchise develop. I've spent money and promoted the heck out of the game despite the shortcomings it obviously has. And the ones who bought a copy have done their part. So hopefully we can see this franchise develop.
In other news, the THQ MX franchise is up for auction again soon. Hope someone scoops it up. Included in the different games IP included is MX Alive Tournament. Interestimg!

Second, it's a damn game. If you want a true to life sim, get off of your couch or beanbag chair and go outside and ride your real bike that I know you all must have.
IT'S A GAME. Buy one for yourself and one for a friend.
The possibility of custom tracks are there, but it is set up so shitty that no one can actually use it.
I remember writing down the names of Reflex tracks I downloaded, then off to the side you have to match them up to a particular slot. Once you download more than 5 or so tracks, you have to delete old ones to make room for new. Very crappy setup.
And don't select an unused slot because that will also crash the game.
I still wish somebody would take Reflex and make it in to a proper mx game.
OT: I really liked Reflex, but I liked the physics in Alive better. The rider wasn't as floaty and scrubbing felt exactly as it should. I thought the scrubbing and ruts in Alive were perfect.
Reflex is a shitty game, period. The physics are alright when you weren't near another rider, but you could go spiraling out of control by hitting some over sized bump the wrong way, let alone riding thru the same lane as another rider. The sounds sucked, the tracks were the only real fun part of that game.
Alive had the physics down, and the track designs were pretty fun, supercross WOULD have been amazing. The business model failed in dramatic fashion, but the physics for a good MX game were there. You guys were just too busy crying endlessly about his elbows being down.
If MUD has real riders, real teams, real tracks, a points series, good AI, how is it not basically a next gen continuation of MVA Unleashed? MVA Unleashed had some real bikes, real riders, hold the gas, steer and preload.
No wonder there's no quality MX games on the gaming market, it's demographic is mentally inept!
It's a shame really.
I am not trying to sound all nerdish on you, but mx simulator definitely takes some skill to play.
Now with these other arcade games, you are right. Same reason I dont like call of duty.
I played the demo on MXS quite a bit, but never had the time or computing power (both software and brain cells) to turn fun laps. I watch the vids tho, I hope something real solid becomes of it!
