RV had an o.k. reason, the Million but Herlings had nothing to gain at Lierop whatsoever! It's really not something to argue about but it is a shame to lose Herlings to a race that could have been skipped without any serious regrets .. I also would have preferred to see RV at the Des instead of the MEC but a Million is different

Having crashed out during the season is entirely different, Herlings had already showed his dominance, rushing Lierop was a bad call imo. I ONLY care because I wanted to see him in the Des... ya know Wink
Some race for glory and passion, others do it for the $. I think that is what i hear you saying... :-)

Bet Everts is happy as 1 he will be healed up for start of next season and 2 gives Belguim a better chance in MXDN

I wanna hear you after next weekend if guys like Tixier/Ferris etc hang with Tomac (with the fact in your head that JH gapped them over a minute regularly)

how did Zach Osbourne do this year after getting beaten repeatedly and easily by Herlings last year?

and like someone else said Jimmy D got essentially the same results than he got in the states (well worse but I took into account adjustment difficulties) so the class is far from a joke and much much closer in ability than the ignorant minds think

You got it right Hut. He raced the last round of the GP's while having a shoulder injury. His Dr and team both said they wish he would just stay off the bike and let it heal. BUT.....since the last race is held in damn near his home town......he wanted to show up and race it anyways. He wrecked again and caused himself even more pain and is now sitting out of the MXoN's.

Honestly.....It would of been cool to see him there at the MXoN's race.......but I think what he did was stupid.

Option #1........Sit out the last round of the GP's because he had already wrapped up the title , let the shoulder heal and be race ready for the MXoN's.

Option #2......Go race the last GP for no reason what so ever , but only because it's your home town race and take a chance of injuring the shoulder even more and missing the MXoN's race.

He took option #2..........against the advisement of his team and blew his chance. Why on earth would you do that? Dumbass fucking move on his part.
The fact you called it, "his home town race" tells me you don't really understand how important the riders and fans value it when the world championship visits their own country! Going to different countries is a lot different to visiting different states.

However I would have preferred he was going to ride the nations but I understand why he choose what he did, and I suppose he probably thought if he made it through Lierop, he could definitely ride the mxdn

Im sure you would also bet that more fans (# wise) were counting on seeing him at the MXDN. I know i was!!

...but it was a truly brilliant ride at Leirop...for no good reason IMO Whistling

Losing RV was a big blow, now also Jeff its all that much worse. I bet the promoters are distraught and really bummed.

I think it would be wise to wait and see which riders go out for MX3 practice next saturday.

that is a very good point....in lierop we were there from friday and didnt know if he was riding till he actually hit the track... i guess with the MXoN , will will no earlier because the team has to be declared.

I think the thing that comes out here is that he was prepared to take that risk for the fans... a point lost on all but a few US racers when it comes to stepping up to ride their home GP and putting a show on for those that indirectly pay your wages.

Its a shame , but it shows how he is wired up.... this guy will also come out into the fans campsites on a race weekend just to be there, he did it at Matterley last year, even though he was in a battle with Tommy Searle , and we all wanted to see him go down , he got a lot of respect for that. Him and Kenny know how to get fans on board and look after them ... he has an 'open house' party to celebrate his championship (as Cairoli did last year after the nations), and its this kind of approach that will keep them in the public eye for long after they finish riding.

if it was a sand track you could bet your left testicle that Herlings would rac,. because its not and there's a real chance he'll get beat, why risk it

Because he had already won the MX2 Championship. If he had not raced Lierop, he'd be racing the Des.. In addition, who doesn't listen to Everts and their own Dr when they say DON'T race Lierop? IMO it was pointless! There was nothing to gain and MUCH more to lose!

Ultimately, with all the smack about who's faster than who, I'm AMAZED he would allow a meaningless final round stand in his way of racing in the Des..

Chill out dude,I think you're taking it worse than Jeffrey!,
He obviously was looking at doing Lierop and the MXdN wasn't he? Shit happens, nobody was tearing into him last weekend saying "don't do it 'cos of the MXdN!"
If he hadn't ridden,he'd have gone into the Nations cold, not ridden for ages to go with it too

Anyhow what about the RV nuthuggers who were saying something about focusing on the races where you get PAID and not an "exhibition" race??

I think this just shows that both sides of the pond find their respected series more important than the MXDN.

Chill out? I didn't realize I was fired up.....like at all.

Herlings made a decision to race his local race and tempt fate of possibly not being able to race the MXoN's. The bet didn't pay off......and in fact turned out worse than what I think he was expecting.

Racing "His home race" I'm sure was important to him , and to his fans there at home. The " Rest of the planet " would of rather seen him stay off the bike , heal up and be ready for the MXoN's race.

Who disagrees with what I said? You're arguing over something that 99% of the world's MX fans disagree with. He should of raced the MXoN's.

But I guess since a "Yank" said it........I've got to be wrong I guess.

Assuming Jeffrey doesn't have a change of heart and doesn't race next weekend; in retrospect from the pov of doing the MXDN, maybe he shouldn't have raced Lierop. But with that said he's hardly the first rider to ignore the doctors trying to come back too early. Happens all the time, especially with these younger guys. There you go.

RV's missing the MXDN in essence just to make the MEC (perhaps another million to the millions he has already). Not that I blame Ryan either - ultimately the career window is small and these guys will do what's best for themselves. I just don't think Jeffrey deserves any particular criticism in that regard, especially given the RV situation.

Yeah, a joke! Jimmy DeCotis showed that by running outside the points.

Euro or not, the kid has skills. Bummer for the MXoN, he woulda mixed it up for sure.

Also if i were as badass as him i woulda lined up at the home race too. Gotta member he's like what 18, living day to day, not looking into the future just yet.

The kid's a racer, we see it all the time. Riders know the risk they have to manage, hell would any of you ever launched out of a starting gate had you listened to your mommy?
Herlings took a shot at the last GP, his home track and it blew most of us away that he was back and possibly ready for the MXDN -Sweet! I'm sure after that frist moto he was more than confident to face the race next weekend.
No Guts - No Glory, Go big or Go home - He is a champion and like Roczen and Tomac, he's a young one. It sucks, but we will have this match up eventually and maybe by then all three will have up'd their stature, conditioning and speed even more.

What do you want him to do? go against the best in the world while injured and see him under perform? what would be the point?

There's a lot of silliness going on here. He was dinged before either Lieop or the Nations. It's not like the Dutch team was among the favorites. Is too bad, but the notion he's avoiding the event is ridiculous.

Almost as ridiculous as holding Decotis up as some bell weather of the comparable top talent of the two series.

Is the the same guy that beat Villopoto in ST Jean in 2011 , on a 350 , stuck in third gear... kid sure struggles when its not deep sand.

He broke his shoulder blade, the break healed but there was always a little pain, at first they thought it was because of sore muscles and not being able to train, but apparently the pain is because of a pinched nerve

How do you prepare for a big race like the mxon by not being able to train?
Not exactly the ideal preparation he was never going to be a 100 percent

He was a shadow of himself at Lierop, not even close to the 2012 Lierop performance

I think if the kid could race he would , he rode the week after a severe car crash in Russia
9/21/2013 12:31pm
Herlings: car crash - raced the next race
HUGE practice crash the week before quatar (gopro footage somewhere on the internet) - raced quatar
seen his Ernee getoff? - raced the day after
Broken shoulder plate (fresh from some weeks ago) - races the toughest track in the world 40 mins
(to be continued)
-> PUSSY/scared

RV: ankle injured (raced with it for a couple of years) - cancles race (I dont blame him at all)
-> NO PUSSY

nice peace of logic guys
