They need to pass stricter gun laws so the drug lords don't have weapons.

Been pretty scary down there for about a decade, most of the area is huge ranching farms covering thousands of acres. Usually it is a lone household very isolated from any sort of law enforcement, so they just have to sit back and watch groups of people sneaking across the property.

Many are smuggling drugs, many are smuggling people. But they are almost always armed. And the illegals steal from each other, so sometimes battles break out as one Coyote robs another Coyote smuggler. They also leave behinds tons (literally) of trash.

And most of that land has been in those families for generations, so it is not like they can just pack up and move. We were just down in that area (Bisbee and Tombstone) last weekend, we saw dozens of Border Patrol vehicles on the highways and also 2 checkpoints. There are thousands more Border Patrol officers today than a decade ago, but it does not seem to make a difference. The crappy economy slowed the number of people trying to come for work, but the drug trafficking continues.

But I don't know if the Border Patrol is legally allowed to patrol private property (which the ranches are mostly a mix of private property and leased BLM grazing lands)?

Get rid of free welfare so we don't need to import cheap labor. Keep the leaches busy and off drugs. Make the border with Mexico a big ass gun range.

Legalize pot and drugs, eh? You mean like this?

"...The Obama administration this week released its Fiscal Year 2013 National Drug Control Budget, and it wants to spend nearly $26 billion on federal anti-drug programs. Despite all the talk about the staggering federal debt problem and current budget deficits, the administration found nothing to cut here. Instead, the proposed budget increases federal anti-drug funding by 1.6% over fiscal year 2012...."

Obama's 2013 Drug War Budget

Maybe you guys need to start voting for a president who'll really fix the problems instead of just guys who can blow smoke up your ass and into your empty head.... Smile

We already carryout counternarcotics operations in not only Mexico ,but also many South American countries.
We've had forces imbedded in SA countries for many years now doing all sorts of shit.
JSOC imbedded with the DEA.

Why they want to keep sending aid & mil support to these SA countries in beyond me.
The legalization of Weed might help a little(a small percentage) in regards to slowing down their profits.
But they really need to go for the head of the snake(s).
Most those Governments South of US are pretty corrupt.
You can do the math on where their money comes from.
Yet,we continue to work in conjunction with them and aid & support them.

Check this out.

Heroin is also a big deal.
This is a pretty good study.
http://info.publicintelligence.net/DEA-HeroinDMP-2011.pdf

Our agencies working in alliance with corrupt governments - just make our agencies as corrupt.
http://publicintelligence.net/miamis-ex-dea-chief-charged-with-shreddin…

There is a ton of info out there on this stuff.
The corruption that we aid to is pretty overwhelming.
They operate in our cities also.

That clusterfuck is undoubtedly preferable to the one where fully 1% of our population is currently in jail.

This might shock you but I agree with you in that Mexico, South/Central America is a much bigger problem than that shithole sandbox.

i say the US should take some security off the canadian border and send it to mexico, that way i can go riding down south without getting my truck/trailer rummaged through because i may bring some fruit across.

I am 5 miles from the border in AZ. I live this shit every day.

The BP does NOT have free reign. By federal law, their area of operations extends 75 miles from the border. They are allowed to enter and operate on private land but only ON FOOT. However, in many cases they have agreements with fed up ranch owners allowing them to cross their lands in vehicles or horseback.

As of right now, the BP is just about standing down. Why should they bother to apprehend and process when their marching orders from a corrupt regime are formed to allow de facto amnesty? Plus their budget has been drastically slashed by sequestration reducing their ability to operate and, honestly, their ability to give a shit.

Instead of legalizing pot, how about people just quit smoking it? No demand, no supply. Nothing like having a little blood on your joint knowing that you basically kill a few people in Mexico every time you toke up.

Sorry, I don't share your fatalistic view about pot nor do I think it's OK for young Mexicans to be killing each other in my county while hauling bales of pot on their backs so that young hipsters in this country can get high.

I am native of Az and and seen first hand the absolute destruction of our public lands from the illegal aliens (UDA's) and drug mules. If you have night vision and want to get worked up go to Summit Mtn road north of Nogales or the Vekol Valley in Pinal County any night of the week and you will literally see the invasion and destruction of the United States. Most nights you will not see Border Patrol anywhere.

Southern Arizona is literally in a state of militarization, yet you hardly ever see the Border Patrol in the remote canyons where the crime is happening. Ask a Coues Deer hunter! All we see is UDA's and drug mules. Hunting by yourself in some units in Southern Arizona is not advised.

Buenos Aires, Organ Pipe have areas closed because of the danger from cartels, yet the general public never hears about it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organ_Pipe_Cactus_National_Monument

Southern Arizona folks think the Border Patrol should be patrolling the Az border for the UDA's and drug mules and not 50 miles away busting people for small amounts of weed on the Interstate checkpoints.

The TV show Border Wars is a fukin joke, have they ever talked about the amount of corruption within the BP and Customs? Fast and Furious? Vekol Valley? Mexican Army in Arizona? The show is a scripted reality show not boots on the ground reality.

.

Being born and raised in Tucson, the problem should have been dealt with 40 years ago, now look at what is happening!

Not uncommon to hear about 4, 5 or 6 Hispanic's (in Tucson) found shot and put into a shed etc., and this was 20 years ago.

Had one of our neighbors (next door to our house) shot and eventually passed away a week later. His sister had done someone wrong and they wanted their $$ or drugs back. I saw one of them as I came home late after working out and shooting hoops that night. The other kids told me later that if I had gone to the front door they would have shot me right there. They were waiting with sawed off shotguns and some uzi type weapons!

Just like roaches, if you don't take care of the problem up front you will get infested and never get rid of them... Hmmm...

This is what you get....... Trash and death.

Wrong place at the wrong time.....

To stop illegal aliens as workers would actually hurt the US Economy. That's why the politicians won't do it.

If they wanted to, they wouldn't even have to shut the border down. All they'd have to do is go after BUSINESSES who employ illegals and put the owners in jail. That shit would put a stop to all of it IMMEDIATELY.

They are running phoenix too. Need a brick of blow? brick of heroin? Need someone shot? Call their "dispatch" and you can get routed to the nearest "piasa" available 24 hours a day. and usually 5 minutes away in the phoenix metro area. I am not kidding

As a mexican i see it like this

problem a)

drugs: basicly there is a huge market for drugs so south america and Mexico has its sights set on selling drugs to US citizens. i have never seen someone identified as a druglord in the US like there has been plenty in Mexico. Who gets the tons of drugs on the other side of the border? who sells the stuff? there has to be an american counterpart to the big drug smugglers. i dont buy the theory that its all mini dealers selling shit. why dont the US government seize their bank accounts and properties? why isnt the US more active on sealing the border so that no drugs come in? the US can beat the shit out of countries with nuclear weapons on the other side of the world and they cant stop smugglers on their own land? why? why do you allow American weapons to come back to Mexico?

problem b)

regular people trying to get thru to work on stuff americans are too lazy to do. stop being lazy and do it yourselves. fine companys and bussinesses that use illegal mexican labour. and seal the border so that nobody comes thru.

i really like your country i admire the regular American because you take care of your things so well. i was in San Diego back in 2009 and i saw a really faded street sign and i found that weird so i walked towards it and saw that there was a stamping on the back with manufature date. turns out that sign was made in the 70s and it had been there 30 years. that would never happen in maexico somebody would have stolen it or damaged it on purpose within months after it was installed.
