Wild West Motorsports Park outside of Reno, NV.
Lots of Natural elevation change to work with. Could be the reincarnation of Carlsbad & Saddleback..!
WATCH the video to see the elevation changes etc...
Lots of room, Grandstands for viewing races and plenty of parking too!

Right, this wasn't about my single and crazy days in Reno.
That place looks like a freeway. Are those trucks driving on it?
As for Reno being a shithole, downtown by the casinos can get sketchy at times, but just about anywhere else around Reno is perfectly fine. The general Reno/Tahoe area is amazing for everything outdoor related (minus the fact that right now we are getting raped by smoke from the Yosemite fire).
yeah, never said it was the greatest. but it sure as hell wasn't as bad as all the arm-chair bitches claimed it would be. the fan turnout was huge, the racing was awesome, and the dust storm was of epic proportions. next year (yep, there's another chance for all the dimwits to complain) will be even better, stamp it.
I have also spend my fair share of time in your area...Park City and Salt Lake city.
If I ever set foot in Utah again it will be to soon...talk about a middle of nowhere shit hole...you live in it boss
As stated from NV825 and Solidsolutions the dirt in that area formerly know as Mustang MX was sketch. The track changed hands a quite of few times because of the quality of dirt. Jerry Masterpool put a lot of time into that place as well as a couple of other folks ,but it just never took off. The track itself only has one elevation change because the surrounding hills are rock gardens. Fernley is a super fun sand track that beats the shit out of you second motos. Stead well lets say that place is legit on race day. The whole track is on the side of a hill and the dirt is amazing when groomed and watered correctly. Then we have Honey Lake. A mans track of epic proportions. Quoted from Roger Decoster " Old school motocross at its finest".

i understand that clearly the money in the sport is in the west, but the tree-less, man made desert tracks don't do a thing for me watching them on tv.
Not all of our NATION is covered in trees with great loam, and natural elevation...and so not every round if our NATIONAL championship series should be in areas with great loam, trees, and elevation changes.
Each landscape, and the moto tracks that are built on them, has their own inherent challenges and benefits. The more variation the better in my opinion....sand at one track, hard pack at another, massive elevation changes at one track and flat man made obstacles at another.
Not every fan will like every track, but you'd think that since most of us are riders ourselves, we can watch and appreciate the skill it takes to ride on the various styles of tracks. But I'm not sure moto fans are mature enough to allow themselves to appreciate something that doesn't specifically fit into their preconceived ideals. And that's unfortunate.
I am .5 hours from Tahoe and Northstar for Downhill MTB, 1.5 hours from Sacramento, and 3 hours from San francisco.
have fun in Salt Lake and singing with tabernacle choir!!!!
It's ridiculous that the majority seem to expect every round to be perfectly loamy "red bud" style dirt. Each surface should be left as natural as possible I think. Let's find out who can handle different conditions and who can't.
Motocross guys in general are pussies about this. Off road guys ENJOY the challenge of mastering a new surface/obstacle each week.
My strategy would include the following:
- at least one track in NW, SW, NE, SE, West, Midwest, So CA, FL
- at least one track with sand, elevation, hard pack, loam, flat.... use locations natural soil. Use natural area - limit Supercrossy.
- keep some historical tracks (Millville, Unadilla, Mt Morris, Budds Creek)
That slimy lake bottom dirt has no place in a national motocross, no matter how many truck loads of wood chips they lay on it.
