.

Wild West Motorsports Park outside of Reno, NV.

Lots of Natural elevation change to work with. Could be the reincarnation of Carlsbad & Saddleback..!

WATCH the video to see the elevation changes etc...

Lots of room, Grandstands for viewing races and plenty of parking too!

My family went to Vegas when I was 14 and we stopped off at the Circus Circus in Reno overnight on the way down. Shit-hole is fuckin right, buncha dirty stinky mexicans (sorry) and filthy white trash hookers, everything was super cheesy and cheap, the room was sticky, it was not the typical "vegas fun loud" it was just "annoying fuckheads loud" and when we woke up to leave in the morning (spring break in April) it was fucking snowing. My dad high-tailed it outta there without laying an eye on the rearview mirror haha.

I spent a few nights in Reno when my friends and I were heading to, or leaving Lake Tahoe on snowboard trips. That place is sketchy as hell! Thankfully I don't remember much, as I was hopped up on goofballs, and beer the whole time! I did win $700 at a blackjack table though.

Right, this wasn't about my single and crazy days in Reno.

That place looks like a freeway. Are those trucks driving on it?

Wild West Motorsports Park used to be a motocross track for a number of years. Never had the greatest dirt to work with though. Watching those trucks race around those hills was awesome last weekend, they really haul! BTW I absolutely love living in Reno. If you want to party, go to Vegas, if you love outdoor sports, Reno/Tahoe is hard to beat.

Stead is awesome, but only on race weekends when they can go out and prep the track. And as Solid Solutions said, that location where the truck race is used to be a moto track but the dirt was pretty sketchy. The only track even worthy of a national in this general area is Honey Lake, about 30 minutes north. I would LOVE to see the top pros rip that place up, and the only bitching would be about rattle snakes which I've actually ran over during a race before going down the downhill.

As for Reno being a shithole, downtown by the casinos can get sketchy at times, but just about anywhere else around Reno is perfectly fine. The general Reno/Tahoe area is amazing for everything outdoor related (minus the fact that right now we are getting raped by smoke from the Yosemite fire).

yeah, never said it was the greatest. but it sure as hell wasn't as bad as all the arm-chair bitches claimed it would be. the fan turnout was huge, the racing was awesome, and the dust storm was of epic proportions. next year (yep, there's another chance for all the dimwits to complain) will be even better, stamp it.

I just spent a weekend at the Peppermill a few weeks ago and that place is pretty nice.

Reno is half hour from Tahoe. Not in the middle of nowhere and some of the most pretty country anywhere in the US. Ive spent lots of time in the area.
I have also spend my fair share of time in your area...Park City and Salt Lake city.
If I ever set foot in Utah again it will be to soon...talk about a middle of nowhere shit hole...you live in it boss Smile

I thought the Miller Motorsport Utah track was cool, I liked the high speeds that you don't see at a lot of tracks. I think it will be better next year when they work out some of the kinks just like any race.

Whoa easy peelout. I have lived in the Reno area as well as a town 1 hour south. Downtown does not give any justice to the Reno/Tahoe area. JW381 dude you stayed at circus circus what did you expect. There is tons of stuff to do in the Reno area. The riding is exceptional with single tracks, hill climbs and awesome trails to be ridden. I'll say one thing living in the NorNev is a whole hell of a lot better then living in Anchorage,AK. I can't wait to move back.

As stated from NV825 and Solidsolutions the dirt in that area formerly know as Mustang MX was sketch. The track changed hands a quite of few times because of the quality of dirt. Jerry Masterpool put a lot of time into that place as well as a couple of other folks ,but it just never took off. The track itself only has one elevation change because the surrounding hills are rock gardens. Fernley is a super fun sand track that beats the shit out of you second motos. Stead well lets say that place is legit on race day. The whole track is on the side of a hill and the dirt is amazing when groomed and watered correctly. Then we have Honey Lake. A mans track of epic proportions. Quoted from Roger Decoster " Old school motocross at its finest".

Cool...More rounds out west in a flat tundra.

i understand that clearly the money in the sport is in the west, but the tree-less, man made desert tracks don't do a thing for me watching them on tv.

Well, half of our NATION is in the West, so doesn't it make sense that at least some of the NATIONAL rounds are held in the West?

Not all of our NATION is covered in trees with great loam, and natural elevation...and so not every round if our NATIONAL championship series should be in areas with great loam, trees, and elevation changes.

Each landscape, and the moto tracks that are built on them, has their own inherent challenges and benefits. The more variation the better in my opinion....sand at one track, hard pack at another, massive elevation changes at one track and flat man made obstacles at another.

Not every fan will like every track, but you'd think that since most of us are riders ourselves, we can watch and appreciate the skill it takes to ride on the various styles of tracks. But I'm not sure moto fans are mature enough to allow themselves to appreciate something that doesn't specifically fit into their preconceived ideals. And that's unfortunate.

I know how much it's a good thing for you guys to have race in Utah, but honestly "the riders have to ride different tracks and surfaces" argument, which you've been perfecting for a few weeks, is a pretty weak defense for Miller and the kind one comes up with if one hasn't anything better to say about it. I'm not being critical of the venue, but the reasons Miller makes sense aren't the track itself.

I don't know if there has ever been a post on this forum that I agreed with more!

It's ridiculous that the majority seem to expect every round to be perfectly loamy "red bud" style dirt. Each surface should be left as natural as possible I think. Let's find out who can handle different conditions and who can't.

Motocross guys in general are pussies about this. Off road guys ENJOY the challenge of mastering a new surface/obstacle each week.

In my opinion, I do not think national tracks should add dirt. Use the natural dirt of the location. I have no problem with a national located in SLC. I didn't like design.... its a supercross hybrid. Are there other tracks near SLC UT?

Titan... I agree.

My strategy would include the following:

- at least one track in NW, SW, NE, SE, West, Midwest, So CA, FL
- at least one track with sand, elevation, hard pack, loam, flat.... use locations natural soil. Use natural area - limit Supercrossy.
- keep some historical tracks (Millville, Unadilla, Mt Morris, Budds Creek)

Oh boy... I challenge you both to go hit up Elsinore. Make sure to jump on the track after they water it too... then, when you get out of the hospital, you can post what pussies motocross guys are. Pinch

That slimy lake bottom dirt has no place in a national motocross, no matter how many truck loads of wood chips they lay on it.
