Came from using Gaerne's specifically before I took a break from MX, now have a brand new set of tech 8 lights. Any tips for break in time? I have made a habit of throwing them on when I get home from work, and wearing them around the house, and they have certainly softened up some, any suggestions on what else will help?

OK, I filled the tub with water. I am now drinking a beer, and sitting at my computer wearing the boots. Will the water magically humidify my house, and then break them in, or what would I do next?

Please explain this to me, like I am 5.

I heard "AStars blow" before, and thankfully I didn't buy those, I bought Alpinestars instead. thanks!

Honestly I thought mine were pretty good, one good ride after a few nights of walking around the house in them and they were fine...

I would just crouch down as often as possible, (squat, stand, squat), and try to get the Ankle area to flex as much as possible each time. It still took me a couple of rides to truly get the feel...

That's talent....

I almost thought about wearing them to work. I figure only the toe portion would be seen. I don't do much walking, though.

I love my tech 8's, always bought them. Now I am considering those new Fox Instinct boots. But for breaking them in EZZA 95B hit it right on the money. Plus the more you ride in them the better.

I had a set of Tech 8's and they took forever to break in. Then the next set I got was the Tech 8 Lights, and they were broken in after the first day at the practice track. Night and Day differnce between break-in times on the standard Tech 8's vs their Lights model.

I had a pair of those a few years back and they were stiff as shit their entire life span. I got a great deal on some Tech-8's and aside from the buckles being retarded sometimes I'm really happy with them when I ride. My brother got himself some SG-12's and he swears by those, but I'm not as picky.

do yourself a favor and go try on some gaerne's. tech 10s are over priced Chinese junk. i've never owned fox boots but i have had a-stars, sidis and gaerne. i got 4 years out of my sg10's, just got a new pair last winter and they've been holding strong. i personally think there the most comfortable, no break in at all

edit- like any pair of shoes, go try a couple different pairs on.. i had a old pair of tech 8's and they were awesome, the new ones are made in china and the quality just is not there anymore. some people dont even get a season out of them before there falling apart

I bought some Jett's a while back and they felt race ready from the start. I never got to actually ride in them because the size I ordered were a size too big and they were out of stock on the size I actually needed so I had to send them back and ended up getting some astars instead. But the Jetts did feel great out of the box and were very easy to get in and out of since the shin plate swung wide open. Just a thought and don't really see too many of them out there.

ive heard of people soaking them in hot water and than walking around in them..

but really, riding as much as possible is the only way to truly break them in. just kind of sucks having to miss a shift here and there because you cant bend your ankle!

I totally get the chinese junk portion,.

My tech 8 light box says, "Made in croatia" Not sure if that's better, though.

Well, the break in is going well. I can feel my toes now. Still can't feel the shifter on the bike, but haven't actually rode yet.
