The demanders such as national riders and core fans are stating they want "National" tracks, will the suppliers supply the tracks? 10 out 12 Tracks are great.

Im 50 + make a decent living, I have three MX bikes in the garage. I ride and race on a regular basis. I read MX blogs and participate every day. I read MX mags. I buy parts, gear, MX bling..... pretty much all of it.
I started riding in the 60s I saw my first MX race at Saddleback in 69 or 70 with Bengt Aberg the winner.
Both my parents rode dirt bikes and my dad and I raced. This was my families "thing" everyone vacation holiday involved dirt bikes until college.
On the TV coverage I saw DC mentioning the addition of FMF as a sponsor and that will give some legitamacy to core fan. I had to laugh at that one.That doesnt do it for me.

1) I want outdoor Motocross on outdoor motocross tracks
I have had no interest in going to a National race at Elsinore and in late and in August is the icing on the cake.
Yes I ride Elsinore for fun but its not where a national should be held. Mr Peters did what he could but its still a lake bed.

2) I want to go anywhere along the track. Having viewing areas and grandstand are for the big rollers sponsor types or non MX people to see the race like how they do when they go to NASCAR. Screw that
I remember going to the 1974 US GP as a kid and walking almost the entire fence line watching the race what a memory.
Ive seen multiple nationals at Carlsbad, Saddleback, and up to recently Glen Helen.

3) If I want grand stands or viewing areas ill go to SX which I do but thats different oh BTW I was at the first ever supercoss lol

4) Im pissed the privateers get screwed

5) The track owners shouldnt loose money
When it does it impacts a potential riding spot for me also.

Maybe im old and out of touch. Maybe its only about money and potenial TV money
They know the core fan will most likely still go no matter what a perfect made for TV cluster duck it is.

I understand completely what your saying. Sometimes it seems like MX just keeps getting it's balls chopped off, little by little. Whats the final goal ? Year round supercross ? We've gone from two 45 minute moto's to two 30 minute motos, whats next ? One 15-20 minute moto like sx ?, We know the motos will have to be at least 15 minutes though, otherwise how the fuck could we save 15% on our insurance.? Permament numbers was the next step backwards, low number equals badass. How could you possibly improve on that ? Good system but riders now needed to market themselves so they need a semi-permament number, that way they'll be more recognizable even if they have a few bad years, "Everyone gets a gold star" mentality at it's finest. Then for some reason that I'll never understand so don't even bother trying to explain it to me is why are the 450's run first now ? Is it really because somebody or bodies somewhere decided the last moto was too rough for the factory stars ? The 2nd moto of the "Premier" 450 class isn't the last moto of the day ? Wtf is up with that ? It's like showing the last 10 minutes of the movie at intermission and expecting the crowd to hang around. Dirt dee duurr... who even comes up with this shit. We won't even talk about how come Weston Peick can't get a ride, All I hear about that is he probably gets overlooked for riders that are better at interviews... but never get interviewed anyway cause they're in fuckin 15th. I see both points. It does come down to where do you want to spend your money. I absolutely love the changes Unadilla has made. Unfortunately, Southwick's changes were more geared to corporate sponsors which cut off sections of the track and made it impossible to walk around the track. Track banners and blown up Lucas Oil cans placed between the racing action and fans wasn't really great changes spectators like to see. My money is going to Unadilla.

No I've had fun riding there too. Even when it first opened like 10 years ago and they had one stupid little track!

I've been healing from a car accident the past year so thank god I've got the races on TV to watch.its kept my mind at ease and gives me something to look forward to.i miss riding so damn much.a brand new 96 cr 250???!!! Oh my god,I've always wanted to find one and make a mcgrath replica and ride it of course not just for looks.

Well, we heard that after the Glen Helen "showdown". And we had to endure the Pala fiasco and the Elsinore debacle.

Hopefully what you have heard comes to fruition and has a positive outcome.


Though to be honest I do enjoy these MxSports/National vs Glen Helen/MXA and the 4 stroke vs. 2 stroke type of discussions.

I have lived in 5 different states, mainly in the midwest, and now in the south.
MX outdoors to me is Millville, Redbud, Unadilla, Budds Creek, and similar tracks.
If I'm on vacation in the Pacific Northwest while Washougal is holding there National, you better believe I'm there.
Same goes for other great venues around the country, but if I was on Vacation in the greater Salt Lake area or Southern Cal, I will find fun activities to do, but making the National at those tracks would not be on my agenda. Even if I was within an hours drive or so. Sorry to guys who think these are good mx tracks. For me and me only, these tracks and their "style" or whatever don't fit the kinda track I want to watch the best in the world do battle on.
Even though I grew up riding district 22 and 23 mx tracks, I am fortunate now to be able to ride some excellent tracks here in Texas like Oak Hill, Underground, and River Valley, which all have the traditional mx feel, flow, look that I'm used to, and the bonus for me the sandy loam dirt here is the best in the world.
I'll always watch the races, but those dry lakebed tracks don't interest me, and I certainly wouldn't pay to ride em, nor do I think they will ever bring the epic racing.

I have to agree Texas is really spoiled when it comes to dirt, but don't you see layout similarities? Every track you mentioned (TX) is on flat land, except the old OakHill, and its been flattened.

JLong, like I said, the the feel, flow, and look to the tracks here is similar to tracks I rode and raced in Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois. Some track up there had more elevation, and some were like tracks here.
I have some favorites up there and here, but with the exception of Millville, the tracks here in TX have alot better mx dirt.
