WIth all this talk about nationals and good tracks why not bring Steel City back? I bet the people who run that track would be pumped to get it back, It was good facility for many years. Why is that one gone? Man, DC should really reach out and get that race back. Give those people another chance.

The Coombs family owns Steel City. They gave it up because they wanted to get another national in the southeast. It was pretty dumb having two nationals a year in PA within an hour of each other. Personally I hate riding on that track lol.

I haven't heard that. Hope it isn't true personally. But that's just me.

wait a minute.

The Coombs family? As in Davey Coombs of MX sports? The guy that some on this very bored believe does not have the best interest of the series in mind? He clipped his own national that had been in the series for years and years and years to replace it with a spot in the southeast?

No way.

I actually agree with you, so I don't think I am quite as mental as Finkle. Smile

It could be anybody though, ANYBODY and I would do the same. I can't believe all the information we have had on here about the lost nationals, why they are gone and what is happening and we still have the threads where people seem to be so misinformed.

I will now make an attempt to not respond in a positive manner at any and all posts regarding the series schedule, TV package, soil, watering conditions, safety, purses, attendance, promotors, sponsors and anything and everything to do or associated with MX Sports.

No they don't own Steel City, nor do "they" own High Point. "They" do have a vested interest in both. Your a jackhole and I don't even like MX Sports or their little monopoly on the sport. Know what your talking about before you type it. I personally loved racing on that track.

I know was just messin with ya, was just reading the other thread. Nobody even comes close to Finkle. I would love to see them rotate between highpoint and sc. I think DC mentioned something about alternating some tracks, this is the first i heard about hp and sc though.

In the late nineties Steel city was such a hard track for me to get dialed in. Those offcamber whoops after the start wow. I always had a blast there. Track was challenging to say the least. I'm just glad both are still around.

Steel City is owned by the Bellora family. "Mad" Mike Jones married their daughter. I'm not positive, but I believe they now live on the property.

I still don't understand why people complain about Highpoint and Steel city being so close together? Does anyone pay attention to supercross? They have 3 races at the same damn stadium! Not to mention 5 of the races are in Cali! If we can't have two nationals close by they shouldn't have that many supercross races. I already know people are going to try and bust my balls on this one but it's double standards! I understand all the race shops are in Cali but the people who work for those shops aren't paying to get in!

Two different entities. MX Sports doesn't call the shots in SX. But I agree that the races need to be spread out. Especially since there are bigger demographics missing out. Also, those people in the shops in Cali, can afford to fly to a race here and there.

Yeah, I understand they're different but just trying to make a point. But I completely agree with you,

Before Anaheim stadium got renevated with the water park and all of the other bullshit that went with it, it was a 65,000 plus seated stadium. Now its only about 40,000 seats. Plus im sure FELD is getting a hell of a deal on rent when they own the first several weeks of the year between a couple of SX events and a couple of Monster Jam events. And when they sell out at every one of them and only have to haul the dirt in once and haul it out once, financially that makes a lot of sense for them. I do agree though that there needs to be one in the north east, and i think there should be an SX and an MX in Ohio. AMA is located in Ohio and Ohio is second in motorcycle sales to California

They are heavily involved with Steel City and High Point. I didn't necessarily mean that they owned the damn land. I've heard Davey call Steel City "his Mom's track." I knew what I was saying which is the only reason I hit submit... Not a big deal.

Yep, Mad Mike's and the Bellora's both have their houses on the property. I used to race amateur day every year (When amateurs raced on sat and Pros raced Sunday) and every Saturday night after the amateur races would be over Mad Mike and all his freestyle Buds would be outside his house putting on a hell of a show. Ah good times.
