how much cash do you usually have in your pocket?

Edited Date/Time 1/21/2012 1:40pm
I usually have $60 - $100.

Why did I make this thread?

Remember when $20 was adequate?

I carry $60-100 too.

My son-in-law and I met with a couple other guys to golf at a municipal course a while back. I had to spot him cash to play cuz the course had no ATM and didn't take Visa.

All of my kids and their spouses use the ATM card and carry no cash at all most of the time.

I have had the same two $20 bills in my wallet since last Christmas. Never use cash.

Usually nada or less than $20. Use debit and credit cards for everything, then just pay the credit cards each month.

I use cash for small purchases like lunch and such. Credit card for store purchases like food, gas, or materials. If I get down to $20, I go by the ATM and pull another $100 out.

I don't like using the credit card at any place that I have to hand over my card, they leave and come back with it. I've known people that have had their CC info stolen that way.

Back in the 90's till the early 2000's when business started to suck. I always carried 500-1000 cash every day. I never wanted to miss out on a screamiing deal on a car or bike or misc. I saw on the road for sale. now 100-200 .

Agreed
Paying at McD's or 7-11 on a debit seems silly

Man, right now my income to debt ratio is so sad that I am luck to have $10 beans for the week! I carry my lunch to work except on Fridays, I eat out with the boys. Which is when I usually spend that $10. Forget using a cradit card or debit card at my house!

Remember that when you use any type of plastic to pay for things, the merchant you are spending with has to pay fees because of it.

What does that mean? The more people start using credit/debit cards to pay for everything, the higher retail prices will go to make up for the added fees that aren't there when a customer pays cash.

Same goes for those Credit Card rewards programs....you're earning a small percentage back, but the MERCHANT is the one that is having to pay even higher fees than normal when someone uses a reward card. The credit card companies are not the ones giving you those rewards...it's being covered by the stores you spend at. Meaning, again, higher retail prices in the future as more and more people use plastic to buy.

Does a debit card have the same fees as a credit card?

Depends on which company you go with for your CC transactions. Some charge more per swipe of a Debit over a Credit, but lower percentage overall.......some it's the othe way......... Some, you lose up to 2% of the sale on a CC purchase.

I try and pay for most things with cash. I usually carry a couple of hundred. I use credit or debit for gas, but most every thing else is cash.

i used to have 300-500, but i spent every dime of it somehow. i learned my lesson real quick: if i have cash, i will spend it.

as of now, i don't carry a dollar. if i need something, i use the debit card. for some reason i don't use the debit card like i ABUSE cash.

Why would that bother you?
It doesn't take any more time to use a card than it does cash.

Many expenditures are deductible, thus I use a credit card where possible.

DRIVER CARRYS NO CASH Wink

I use a credit card ( I only have 1) for gasoline and any online purchases, race entries, etc. I write checks for my utilities and to pay off said CC each month, and I use cash for small items or lunch, hookers that sort of thing. Usually carry from 40-100
