I always thought a "manual" was a coasting wheelstand, as in skateboarding or BMX bikes. An MX bike could do a "nose manual", I suppose (e.g. KW in SX opening ceremonies), but a regular manual on the rear wheel doesn't seem possible. Am I wrong on this?

Nope... Manual is front wheel but there is no bunny hop in MX only BMX so they say manual through the whoops when you ride a wheelie. Or they say time the woops

The way Emig used the word was right. On a bicycle theres manualing and peddle manualing, when you off the bike of the bike with the front end up whether peddling or not its manualing, so in BMX terms, they were manualing those woops up the hill yesterday.

HUH?

-A manual is with no pedaling
-A wheelie is when you are pedaling on one wheel

Dirtbikes wheelie. If you see someone on one wheel through a series of bumps under no power (engine idling) then that will be a manual.

That was my thinking too.

Skateboard = manual only

Bicycle = manual and wheelie

Motorcycle = wheelie only

Wheeling through whoops, or over a single bump, whilst keeping the rear wheel on the ground. That's about as short and concise as you are going to get with the definition of "manualing."
Evey manual maneuver is a wheelie....not every wheelie is a manual maneuver.

In BMX, thats BMX terms, there is a manual and a pedal manual. The way Emig was using the word was correct. A peddle manual is when you manual and peddle through the rythem section, usually down the front straight.

Ya, I come from a bicycle background way back so I guess I just tend to stay true to that meaning.

Manual = home schooled
Wheelie = at least some high school

IMO! A motorcycle can "Manual" ie. A "COSTER" is a wheelie past the balance point, clutch fulley disengaged (pulled in) useing no engine power allowing the bike to travel solely on the rear wheel for an extended distance w/o uses of the engine , or if you have the skills rev limiter used for effect (Rev limiter Coster) or shutting the bike off during the coster and restarting before bring the front end down like a BOSSSSS!! Lol

All definitely "COSTERS" on a motocycle and after .49 on dirtbikes.. Awesome bike skills imo, JMB killed it. Oh and a coster to facey to keep in perceptive it's not a JOEs trick.. haha. Not sure if the video will post right, So if someone can fix it, Thanks
