I think that's the reason Dirt DNA uses car wrap material instead of regular graphics material. I know they have been working directly with Arai and Shoei so that might be where they got that info from. I'm going to ask them about it because I was not aware of any issues.

The car wrap material is probably used for its 'shrink wrap' property as you mentioned - but if they're working with Arai and Shoei you would guess they must have at least explored the safety issue.

Im sure its fine, but its just the kind of thing people only tend to think about AFTER they've damaged their head/helmet and are seeking some sort of compensation.

Very true, stickers on polycarbonate never would've crossed my mind. If you saw my 2-stroke test ride video a while back, that's why I got the new helmet.Wink

I like the helmet wrap idea. Way cheaper than a custom paint job but you can still be different.

It seems a lot of helmets these days just look good with one set of gear.

Did you figure out what exactly happened with the "Mysterious shifting" thing? I only ask because I have been going through something similar , but it isn't my bike.....it's my new boots. I ditched my worn out Tech 8's and picked up a new set of SG10's and I can't feel my shifter. I keeping clicking up or down a gear.....gets a little hairy when hammering out of a tight inside line to a face of a jump......then right before take off....the SOB hits neutral! I have also had an issue with my foot getting caught under my rear brake pedal......it's a lot harder to get it out sometimes than it seems. I guess it's just something I have to get used to , trying to prevent that shit from happening before I wad myself.

We have made a few helmet wraps, we had a local sign shop print it on vinyl car wrap material and it worked great. The second photo is a johnny o'mara replica wrap we did.

Yea, I was wearing 661 boots (second ride) and they were broken in fine at the end of the first ride. When I checked everything out the next week, I found the sole had separated from rubbing on the shifter and actually got stuck on it when I came around the corner before the jump. That's why it downshifted before the jump when I leaned forward and shifted back up on the face as I tried to lean back and save myself from a massive endo.

If you have that problem with your SG-10's I would suggest replacing them. I won't wear those 661's again because it's not worth the risk. I should've looked at the tag inside before I bought them but I got a good deal. Made in China... It wasn't worth the money I saved!

Am I the only one that thinks 100 bucks is a little high for this? I was looking into getting one myself but I felt it was over priced. No offense.

I don't think $100 is overpriced. A custom paint job is what, $1,000?
To get custom design and printing for $100 or less is not bad.

I think the price is fair for a custom sticker- that means your name, number and sponsors. That is not a mass produced sticker, because nobody else is going to buy that specific design.
Maybe it's a 'stock' background or texture, but it still takes design time to overlay your name, number and sponsors. The design time is the bulk of the cost.

I don't think 100 is some insane price. I just think its a little high considering I can buy kit for my bike for that price and you already had to spend 400 on the helmet. I think 60-70 would be a way better price. I would buy one for sure for that. It's just my opinioN. If everyone is selling them for 100 more power to you. I hope you sell a bunch.

This is why I always go with a blue-themed helmet while riding Yamahas. I can wear any gear and the helmet matches my bike.

I love the idea of these wraps. I've been lamenting the fact that I can't afford a custom paint job anymore, but now this changes all that. I might be looking at a new (plain) helmet again soon....

Yes, Dirtdna.com uses a little different base sticker to print on to help it stick to the curves better then the same super thick top layer is applied so they end up just as thick and durable.
