AC has been laying in the bed for the last 4 weeks and has lost 10lbs.... Webb has been riding... And riding good.

This shouldn't even be a discussion.

Lol Webb came from dead last to 12th...

AC started 3rd and ended 14th...

He's been sick guys... Give him some time. But for now Webb will have him.

Still not a bad result for AC, ran up front and scored points in his first pro moto.

Alessi/Villopoto = AC/Webb?

Amateur dominance is quickly forgotten in the big leagues.

Not to quickly, remember RV taking Alessi out at budds on 250s? Also remember RV saying he'd rather anyone win a championship than Alessi.

I don't think it'll be the same situation between those two, for a variety of reasons. I do however see them being more evenly matched than they were in the Ams.

And yes, by the time that gate drops for the first pro race- the Amateur championships are forgotten. I remember Tony Alessi saying on Inside the Outdoors "Villopoto never beat us in the Amateurs, not once!", and a collective "who cares" was muttered by everyone watching.

It might be a little early to judge the entire trajectory of AC's career based on his first race.

I'd go with Webb. No basing anything on today at all. Just think he's a better oa package IMHO. Both should be great riders and we as fans are lucky to see these young guys go at it for the next few years.

Epstein had a great ride in Moto 2 holding off AC the whole moto, shows how deep the field is when they're battling for 16th!!

Right?!
It's now, ridiculously, gone from an O/A determining a riders future-capacity to, absurdly, just 10 mins into his first moto ever.

Yeah you're right, RV was, and is more of an a-hole than both of these guys.

I just got back from the race. AC92 looked great in practice and is as technically perfect as a rider can get IMO. He was fast early in the race but rode tight and nervous, made lots of mistakes was freight trained and finally dropped anchor. I absolutely think it was first race jitters and I absolutely think he's the real deal and gonna be a contender by end of year.

That being said, Coop has proven already he's the real deal and if I was nailed down to picking between the two - Webb wins hands down. Only thing he has going against him is his machinery IMO. The Yamaha Webb is riding appears to me to be inferior machinery to the PC, FC and KTM's especially after watching live today.

His talent is shining through regardless but it's obvious to me.

Anyone know how long he has to ride those turds? He's gonna be running uphill racing against the green, red and orange bikes every week. How in hell did Honda let this kid get away from them? How long is his Star deal for?

This^^^

I was there as well and AC dropped a massive anchor in moto 1. Didn't watch him too much second moto, but the times I did he was stuck behind the same rider throughout the whole race. There is no doubt that he has talent and will go places, but I think today was a big eye opener for him. He probably learned a ton of what to do for the future, especially with races like today where there was a short break for the boys due to the TV broadcast schedule. If anything I just don't think he recovered physically from moto 1.

On the contrary Webb had a solid day today, but wasn't spectacular like the earlier rounds. You actually hardly noticed him, but he was consistent and on the gas all day. Both of these young men have bright futures.....

AC looked good he just didnt look "ready".... like he was in over his head a little- whether that was just for that race or whether that was for this season remains to be seen. I was actually thinking to myself "last year this time he was riding supermini's and now he's riding nationals?" seems rushed and it showed.... probably should be doing A class at LL but it is what it is - Kid has got it no doubt and will emerge soon enough. Webb is ready NOW..... he needs AC's bike!!! or Tomac's! If Webb was on that PC Kawi he would be contending for moto wins right now- no doubt about it..... he's next level talent and has got the desire as well. Im really rooting for him.
