Webb crashed on the start.
AC started 3rd and ended 14th...
He's been sick guys... Give him some time. But for now Webb will have him.
Amateur dominance is quickly forgotten in the big leagues.
And yes, by the time that gate drops for the first pro race- the Amateur championships are forgotten. I remember Tony Alessi saying on Inside the Outdoors "Villopoto never beat us in the Amateurs, not once!", and a collective "who cares" was muttered by everyone watching.
Pit Row
It's now, ridiculously, gone from an O/A determining a riders future-capacity to, absurdly, just 10 mins into his first moto ever.
That being said, Coop has proven already he's the real deal and if I was nailed down to picking between the two - Webb wins hands down. Only thing he has going against him is his machinery IMO. The Yamaha Webb is riding appears to me to be inferior machinery to the PC, FC and KTM's especially after watching live today.
His talent is shining through regardless but it's obvious to me.
Anyone know how long he has to ride those turds? He's gonna be running uphill racing against the green, red and orange bikes every week. How in hell did Honda let this kid get away from them? How long is his Star deal for?
I was there as well and AC dropped a massive anchor in moto 1. Didn't watch him too much second moto, but the times I did he was stuck behind the same rider throughout the whole race. There is no doubt that he has talent and will go places, but I think today was a big eye opener for him. He probably learned a ton of what to do for the future, especially with races like today where there was a short break for the boys due to the TV broadcast schedule. If anything I just don't think he recovered physically from moto 1.
On the contrary Webb had a solid day today, but wasn't spectacular like the earlier rounds. You actually hardly noticed him, but he was consistent and on the gas all day. Both of these young men have bright futures.....
