Probably drunk, too. Mullet flapping in the wind like a rabid beaver's tail. Unstoppable.

Yep, a badass pic indeed.

So badass i had to rip it out of MXA(or Dirtbike) back in the day and scotch tape it to by bedroom wall.

Yer a dick...I don't think ron rode drunk.

Love the story of RL racing that bone stock Yamaha and slaying everybody in San Diego that year. Can anyone elaborate on that story?

Signed with Honda for next year , Yam took bikes back but no release from contract, he bought stock bike and won. Then pounded beers for 3 weeks straight with the girls from his high school.

That last sentence might be a slight exaggeration.

Ron Lechien's mullet was the source of all his moto powers. He was the "Samson" of motocross.

Ronnie's one of my all time favorite motogods...

I remember that mullet flapping in the wind as he pounded everyone in the 500cc class one Sunday in July at Washougal..

Not disin' Lechien here. I think the dude was very talented but this is another example of one of those "Epic" pics where the rider crashes right after the photo is snapped.

Yes, I am aware he didn't crash but by his own admission it was dumb luck he didn't go down. He states in that little snippet about how he was entirely expecting to go down but was surprised when he didn't.

As far as the drunk comment.... I thought he was more into weed. Didn't he get busted at an airport somewhere overseas with a sack in his luggage?

What an ahole loser.

He turned out to be a great person. I wish people would just drop that crap. Why must dicks always bring up his past. It pisses me off.

Ha, I thought I was the only one who did that. Ron Lechein was and still is the man!

When i was more involved in the moto industry, I ran into Ronnie from time-to-time through friends of friends (trade shows, etc). He was ALWAYS super friendly and fun to be around. It is always a pleasure reading what he has to say as well - he isn't afraid to tell the real story on about any situation.
