Here we go this is the one just destroying the corners on the KX250.

There was a race, at like the begining of his supercross career in the 125's where I think he actually stopped mid race for 10-15 seconds cause his gap was so huge just to pass for the lead again and win in dominant fashion! still remember his old gear combo's, and how in interviews he would get gruff from the announcers for how much pink and purple he wore hah!

I can't remember which one it was or the other notabale names at the time, but would kill to see footage of that again if anyone knows what im talking about!

Sure is fun to watch the old videos of him. I know people flame those that call him the fastest man on the planet but watching these reminds one that he once was and maybe still could be. If not he was the most entertaining man on a bike along with Travis! Maybe there is still a little left in his tank somewhere?

Seriously, Great Thread.

2008 - his Lakewood leap past Davi Millsaps for the lead. He came up a bit short, but he turned something into a double that nobody else probably even considered trying.

2007 - Can't remember the race, but the supercross finish line jump he crashed on. His bike was totally mangled and he caught back up and passed Reed for the win (I think).

2009 - U.S. Open of SX practice: He did some ridiculous quad in practice. I don't even know how he stopped for the tight following turn. I would try to find a video but I'm at work and can't figure out how to open a new explorer window. It's on youtube.
The first one you brought up was actually Texas, the inside line was two singles and he cased the fuck out of it, where the outside was just ride around the 2nd ramp...

2007 was San Diego, he didn't win tho...

The US open thing was pretty cool, there is a good vid of it...

Anyone notice tho how most of these highlights there was a green bike under him? Hmmmm

I've heard a few racers say Stewart was better than anyone ever that year in SX... You'd have to agree

This one is pretty cool. He goes 3,4,5 and still manages to stop for the corner.

Ya he had a couple in the first part of the moto where he was flat tracking pretty good too!

Tell you what, not a wonder RC went nuts about the track prep a few years later, that place is smooth right there!!! Just hard and an outside cushion!

maybe not 10-15 seconds, but im almost positive there was a supercross race where he stopped for a bit and looked back, waiting for second place to catch up (and no not the "let chad reed by" pass at unadilla). just wish i could remember it

Watching his last amateur race on the 125 at Lorettas in 2001. He took that large sweeper turn (around whats now called Lake Lorettas) so flawlessly the whole crowd was silent. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it!

I whole-heartedly believe that if the the pros still raced all 2-strokes, James would be closer to 125-130 wins, and RC would have 10-15 less at the same time.

NO ONE, I mean NO ONE could keep their speed/momentum up or clear jumps like James Stewart did. It was down right insane.

I firmly believe the 450's have way too much power to the point where it takes less skill to clear jumps the way you used to on a 2-stroke. Don't get me wrong, the guys nowadays are still amazing... but it takes more skill to ride a 2-stroke. IMO. #flameon

^ Sick nasty!

Budds 2005. Stewart is battling with Windham for 3rd. The track ran backwards that year so Big Gulp was just a drop off instead of a massive downhill double. Bubba would hit the breaking bumps before the drop off and land on the down slope of Gulp carrying his momentum all the way down the hill and into the corner.

He sees things no one else does on a track. Simply amazing.

Not to hijack the thread but Hannah holds the record for the best "stop and wait". 1980 Anaheim after Hannah won the main they had a race for the top 4 guys. Hannah takes off and in about two laps has gapped the field by about 20 second, stops at the top of the biggest jump on the track and waves for everyone to catch up! Takes off goes another couple laps and does it again! All the while "Supermouth" and the crowd are screaming at the top of their lungs. I bet he still remembers this.

shit was incredible, no one was doing it. not even carmichael on the 250s.

Here is my own little personal James Stewart OMG moment.

Can't remember which year it was , but he was riding the KX125 at Washougal during practice. Coming up to Leech's lump there was a small quad ( low but long distance ).....anyways this jump is just a big steep single and it about 10' high.

James comes hammering up through the quad jump and hit this 1' tall ( yeah....1' tall ) kicker bump at the bottom. He was pre-loading extremely hard right before he hit it , and it was shooting him all the way up and over the face of that 10' jump.....without ever touching it! Me and a little buddy of mine who was an extremely fast INT rider out here in the NW.......stood there and watched James do it like 5 - 6 times in a row.

I seriously left that spot scratching my head in complete awe. It was almost like he defied the laws of physics to do that. It truly was incredible to watch! BTW....he completely destroyed the field that day in both motos.

Seeing these vids make me feel kind of sad. He´s not riding anywhere near with this energy and having as much fun as he used too.. Sad

Still cheering for my boy and hoping he gets back in the rhythm soon!

What an awesome thread,, I couldn't think of a better way to burn a couple hours on a Saturday night. Like a lot of you, I miss the old James, but I am pumped I got to see it all happen. Like when I watched James, I find myself screaming how the fuck the bleep did he do that when watching RV now, but just not as often as Bubba made me say it. James, IMO, is the most talented dirt sickle rider I've ever seen.

This photo is the perfect example of what the sport looked like before and after James Stewart.

That 2004 pass at Southwick was sick. I watched it from the sidelines and couldn't believe he attempted it. There wasn't one pass in that area all day and Bubba sliced a pass between two riders while not backing off the throttle.

In Millville practice in 2003, I remember him passing RC in the whoops! That was pretty sweet

I don't know if it has been talked about and I can't find the picture but I remembered seeing in a Dirt Rider there was a series of pictures of him doing a rolling nac nac through some really deep ruts wide open. They said they showed the pictures to him and he had no recollection of doing it. He just did it as a natural reaction.
