And now we see why nobody posts their true feelings or observations.

if I'm a Sponsor of Reeds I'd be thinking the same thing, WTF man step it up.

I see both sides of it. The caption should have read something along the lines of, "Reed is looking to step it up as the season progresses" or "Reed is trying to step up even with a bum knee"... something along those lines. But I do think he overreacted. Understandably so with such a rough season, but still...

All you peeps supporting Reed on this one need to grow a pair. He let his emotions get the best of him and threw a lil bitch tantrum. Simple as that. We all know he's not 100% healthy but who is? He DOES need to step it up... injury or not.

Wow, I shot the photo, I wrote the caption, I was trying to be supportive. It was a step-up jump. I tried to explain this two days ago to Dave Osterman, it obviously came off differently than it was intended.

I apologize to Chad and his fans, which I have long counted myself among. I really didn't see this coming.

Are we sure Chad doesn't post on Vital? I cringed a couple times due to poor grammar when I read that.

I don't think you owe him anything. Maybe he owes his fans an apology for being whiny here.

Don't apologize to Reed. He has been a whiny little girl ever sense he came to the USA and if he wants to throw a temper tantrum Iet him,you can sit back and laugh and watch him make a fool of himself yet again. He is almost as bad as Ben Townley who would not give an interview because he wasn't included in a pre-season prediction on who had a shot at the championship. Laughing Laughing

When you know you are better than your results and circumstances hinder you it can be very frustrating. Anyone who has ever raced knows this and understands Reeds reply. Not to mention the fact that the "insiders" know good and well the truth but error in not reflecting it with their comments.

How quickly people fall of the Reed bandwagon.

I agree. I didn't like him for the longest time...when he was being a whiny baby. Then it seemed like he started manning up a little (and I enjoyed cheering for him), now he's fallen off the wagon again.

Its actually pretty easy to understand why Reedy is upset.

It's known by those who work at RacerX that he has a bum knee that he has to race through it due to sponsor obligations. By telling him to 'step it up' you're basically ignoring that fact and implying he isn't trying hard enough when in reality he is probably going as fast as he can with the injury he has. I can understand how he would take it personal.

I agree with MelonFan123, professional athletes are of a different breed.
This is a good example of why riders should be more open with what they are dealing with. Just think, if racer x could be open about sickness/injury they could write an article about how dedicated he is to the sport (past the amounts of money he throws at the sport that he always throws out there). I think racer x was just trying to be uplifting without trying to divulge too much info.

side note: I've been wrong before.

Do you read any race reports or listen to any of the Racer X Podcasts? Every one of them has made many mentions that Reed is sick and riding well below his capabilities because of the illness. It is not a secret that is being kept under wraps. It has been talked about by many and Reed has even tweeted about himself.

Reed's response displays a vulnerability that his competitors will use to their advantage. Not that his results weren't doing that already. However, a whining diatribe seldom generates desired results, and most often is counterproductive.

In other words, quit bitchin', Chad, and let your right wrist do the talking.

Some people are best served by steering clear of social media. Chad Reed might top that list.

No I don't. I get all my information from these threads, come on...

I guess me as a fan would like more detail on what's going on. I mean if this was a stick and ball sport they would have practically uploaded his dr. records to inform the fans.

Reed didn't handle that very well
By lashing out, you make yourself look stupid
Not something you would expect from a pro athlete

Something funny on instagram for once ...

Take a minute and try to imagine how much Chad has on his plate. Alot. I can totally understand why he took it like that.....Racerx is basically implying he's not trying hard enough. Have we EVER known Chad to not try? No.

For whatever reason his best effort isnt doing it right now and the guy has alot of people depending on him. I personally cant imagine how he sleeps at night.

Maybe I'm old fashion but I sure wish more professional athletes were actually professional in social media when it comes to both content and grammar.

I think the whole problem is that Racer X neglected the well known fact that Chad has been incredibly ill the last few weeks and by rights shouldnt even be out there according to JT, and then saying the guy should step it up, was just an insult to him and made it sound like he wasnt even trying. For the spelling Nazis, im on my phone so cut me some slack.

Bad reaction Chad. .

I agree with you but they are not paid for that so it doesn't bother me so much. Emotions, however, should be controlled, grammar etc can be ignored to a degree.

If he was a girl I'd ask if he was on his period. Totally over reacted.

I'd trade my grammar for his mx skill anyday. (sorry for the poor grammar in this post btw, it's not my native language Sad )

The guy misinterpreted the instagram comment wrong and overreacted. People do stupid things all the time, even pro athletes.
But let's bitch about people that make mistakes, it's fun to bitch about other people. It's certainly fun to bitch about those that race the competition we love to watch.
