12 years

he has been racing professional mx 12 years

12 years worth of crashing, concussions, training his ass off, traveling, talking to fans

RC got out at 10 right?

I'm hoping js7 & cr22 just keep on building steam and put on some good rides in the second half......you have to be in it to win it. No doubt rv is the class of the field right now, but I think they both are capable of winning still.

This. People forget how hard this sport is, not just about showing up to the races.

I think rc was develpoing some sort of chronic fatigue syndrome from all the training. He had to quit.

I don't care if James rides around in 10th. He's still more fun to watch than anyone else out there.

RC only missed a SX season. How many races or seasons has James missed? I bet RC raced way more times in 10 years than James has in 12!

Something that some of you are forgetting is that James will be 28 this year. Most top racers are either out of the sport or have one foot out of the sport buy this time in their careers. We are also forgetting that James has been on a motorcycle since the day he came home from the hospital as a baby, literally. I'm sure that he wants to win, but time, the grind, and the money always change things. How many guys that have the money, titles, and crashes that he has had still have the desire to really push like they did before those things?

For him to win he will need to train like RV an RD and at this point I don't think that is going to happen. He might ride as much as they do, but I doubt that he is doing the other things. Even if he did/does train as hard as they do age might be the overriding factor.

I like the age argument, but what about Reed? He is older and until his crash last year he was with RV every sx race, year before in mx he was running with the red plate til Milville? Every once and a while someone defies time and age maybe James has something in the tank? We can only hope, the Ryan's show could get old if it stays at this pace!

Chad was 27 when he won his last US title. Chad has done ok, but the RV of this year isn't the RV of 2010 or 2011. James won a race in SX this past year and he is beating guys like Barcia and Canard that he probably shouldn't be beating at his age. I'm not saying that James isn't fast or that he isn't doing really well, but I am saying that I don't think he will run with RV or RD. RV is on another level this year. James will have to put himself in the same place that he was prior to 2010 and unfortunatly RV has part of that equation.........Aldon.

You never know though. Maybe he will find that 30+ seconds that he is missing right now.

MUDDY CREEK, in probably '93 or '94, anyway, he came back telling of this amazing young man....

James will be back at the Creek this weekend. His kinda dirt. Look out.
I happen to agree, Muddy Creek is JS type of track and although RV is a MONSTER right now the racing will be closer with JS possibly pulling out the win.

James has experience there, RV doesnt as far as I know. Its also the first "southern" national in a long time and he will be out to win.

I also have to hedge my bet and say DAMN is RV flying. Wow

James is where he needs to be, apart from the Wiemer auger he'd be resting comfortably behind the two Ryans. Dungee is going to be putting a wheel on RV and that's what RC did to Stewart that unraveled JS so many times. RV has had a few "moments" already this year and I don't care how tough you are these guys can go down hard at the pace they're running. JS might be there to capitalize and then take the race to RD as he had last year. I think James has made a great strategy, he knows the pace RV's running is in his realm but for only so long.
He's got to be in it to win it, but also in it to promote his sponsors. It's going to get heated in the months to come.

Sure Dunge is as solid as they come but he is not putting a wheel in on RV. RV passes RD every moto and just drops him. Thats Dungeys weakest point. Follows riders for half the race before he passes. RV follows for a corner and makes it happen

That is a good point and the normal strategy where there is a guy that can go balls out the entire moto, but the only problem for James is that Dungey is about 20 seconds ahead of him at the end of the moto right now. 20 seconds is a lot of time to make up and a lot of extra effort. He did say that he hopes to be up to speed by mid-season, but losing 6 to 10 points a round mininum is a lot to make up without some help from the top two.

I'd like to see James get a win this weekend though.

I agree RV has had him covered and I said he is "going" to be putting a wheel on him. It hasn't happened - yet.
RV uses that burst of speed to make space, but RD actually had the fastest lap time last week in moto 1. RD will step it up and that's what he has to do to create a mistake. All of this is playing out as many expect apart from JS's maturity, which is refreshing although uneventful, if you can say that about running top 3 in our nationals.

James is going through the same transition that all great athletes must face in their carreer's. The fact that he is regrouping and riding somewhat cautiously in order to get the most out of the remainder of his racing days is something we should embrace. Do I think he has another championship in him? Maybe SX next year but probably not MX this year or any other from this point on. Do I think that he can slowly build and be ready on a given day in the outdoors when everything is clicking and give the Ryans a straight fight? Hell yes! If he stays the course and doesn't try to be the old Bubba I think he will get a couple moto wins and maybe even score a overall and I think that is exactly what he is looking to accomplish this summer. Enjoy watching this man ride while he is still out there because he is special, he still riles up the natives on this board like no other and he is still has the slickest style out there imho.

Im not anRV fan but I do know that he is one of the best to ever ride a bike. I think that the one big thing RV has over James is that RV is better at bike setup and explaining to his mechanic what he wants and what he thinks the bike needs. That being said,
I think we will see James get better everyweek as they get both him and thebike dialed in because if you think that he doesnt have the speed to ride with the two Ryans,Your carzy.
James is riding smart right now and I think we will see the JS7 start to pick it up real soon. Maybe even this weekend.Smile

When I watch RV ride I cant help but think that he is going so fast that it makes me wonder how long he can get away with riding at that speed without having a bad crash. It just seems like when you ride that fast and your on the edge its only a matter of time.

I hear what you're saying about RV riding on the edge, but then RC did the same thing for years.

Watch James' GoPro from last weekend....RV almost shit the bed...JS's reaction took him off the track...RV probably didn't even know he got out of shape!
