Stupid. You can download nbc sports app and watch right now. No provider needed. Not tv but it works and is on.

I downloaded "NBC Sports Live Extra" App and it still requires me to login with a provider... is it a different app?

I have no idea then... I have DirectTV.. I just downloaded the app, clicked watch Hangtown and its on. If I had to give a provider I wouldn't have one. I downloaded the NBC Sports Live Extra app

I have Cox for cable/intenet and ATT for cell.

I have att for my cell it works. You have to go to sports then hangtown. If you try it from the homescreen it asks for a provider
